• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

"Honey, did you buy a KTM???"

Says my wife...

"What are you talking about?", says I...

Seems a KTM box showed up on the front porch this morning while shew as having her morning coffee. Oh...that's right, I ordered parts for the Husky. I am not sure if I am sad, happy, or indifferent.

Last weekend, I tore my rear brake hose off my 449 (yikes!). That ended the weekend for me, so I hopped on the Interwebs and ordered from ktm-parts.com (which is actually a swanky name for Appalachian Offroad / KTM). Nice ordering system with a big "We Have Your Husky Parts" popup. Fill fiche on the site too.

Just $35 for the brake hose ( a few bucks less than the MSRP) with just $7 shipping. Nice. Now let's see how long it takes...or if they can even get it...

Seriously two days? I even picked "ground" shipping (it came USPS Priority BTW). Sadly, however, it came in a KTM box, in a KTM bag, with a KTM label.

Not sure what to think about all of this...but I had a fairly odd part in my hands (when was the last time you needed a brake line???) in less than two business days without getting off my duff. I say that is a very nice turn indeed!

Some things are easy to get...others, not so much. I needed a new drain plug for my TE 450, and a new reed boot for my WR300. The drain plug was nowhere to be found....back ordered. The reed boot was not a problem. And yes, it's a little disconcerting to see KTM stickers all over the Husqvarna parts.

I ordered new front plastics from the new Husky dealer in Fife. The only color offered was blue, it won't match the red rear. I'll order blue rears if that's the case. They were only $100 for the set.
