• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Hinulawan River & Lake Malubog - Toledo through the mountains

This report is mostly the southern most part of this 54 mile (1 way) trip. This would be a good DS ride I think for the people who like the dual sport rides ... Its a little too much cement for me but the views are great and the Filipinos are the same great people no matter where you encounter them here. And of course, there are multiple variations to the destination along the way.

The route is the blue line in the center of the page ... Running east to west across Cebu...This is about the most southern trek I have made on the bike and not be on the hardtop...

Danao City city limits is over by the coast ..I guess they are showing the BRGY area (county area) by placing its location off in the center to the map like that.

Here's the Voyager GPS data.

15MPH AVG I'm sure sounds slow, but even on the hardtop, 35MPH is about tops traveling speed for me. So to me, 15MPH AVG sounds fast over those mountain roads and trails.

I like this water fall.. Its a feeder for Lake Malubog... Not sure where the water source is but its plenty big .... This area is controlled by the Carmen Copper CORP folks ... Not sure who owns all the equipment in the pics and vids, but lots of diesel being burnt in this general area.

Water flow going out into the lake ..

Few more lake pics ... Water looks pretty clear and I saw a few locals out there with scuba masks on diving around.

My entry point into Toledo City.

So what was happening in Toledo? A MX race of course :)... I was thinking on racing but after the 4hr ride over, I was just a little spent... Not enough time to do both motos so I made a few laps, BSed with all my racing friends there, and rode home. Actually even made it home before dark.

My friends Noli and William racing here :)

Plenty, plenty of sunshine here.

Northern end of Negros Island in the background. There is a volcano hidden in the clouds...

Little better look at Negros...

Here's a look at the river valley from above ... The river itself is in the background in the whiter dirt area.

Hinulawan River bed ...Never been here but I'm guessing that all fills up with water when the rains happen and the runoff from the mountain occurs.

This is another small river \ stream north of the waterfall that is used for a road for a few miles here... These pics were taken on the way back east and towards home.. This stream will fill up from the rains and drain-off ... A person can get trapped here for a few hrs depending on the rain in area. Water here is from natural springs somewhere and is about crystal clear ...

My good friend Dave(in the states) always drinks Mountain Dews :)

Had a couple of those mangoes also while I was there... Its so hot and humid, you gotta keep taking liquids non-stop here almost ...
