• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I just had a look at Hi Flite's website. If you have an older bike (77 or newer) of any make, this looks like the place to get seat covers and foam. You can get stuff that looks like OEM, or have covers made in any color you want with all kinds of fun designs silk screened on at no extra charge. I'm getting a soft seat foam and custom star pattern seat cover made for one of my old Kawasaki's, but they make stuff for your older Husky's too.:D The way to order stuff is to call them up.

Just a note on HiFlite seat foam. They custom make the densities of the foam, but don't have anything set like the people over at Guts Racing do. If you want a soft seat from Guts, you get a soft seat. If you ask for a soft seat from Hiflite, it will be more like regular or hard density. One can only wonder what their standard and hard foam is like....an anvil???? And once you've ordered it, you are SOL if you don't like it. They won' take it back. They did offer to make a second seat foam based on a Guts foam if I send them my (TE) seat for dealer cost, but I'm stuck with the first one. They claim to make custom seat foam to order, but if it isn't right for you then it isn't actually custom, is it?

Finally, I had to talk to the plant manager about the seat foam I got. He told me that they don't make any foam any softer than the one that they sent me, so sending my TE seat in would have been a waste of time and shipping charges. Anyway, he resolved the issue. They will send me a return tag and then credit my account when they have the seat foam in their possession. From now on, they will be sending foam samples out to prospective customers so they can determine if the foam will suit their needs or not.
