  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Help needed ASAP...09 TXC450 quit and has no compression

Bought a Demo 09 TXC 450. Bike supposedly has less than 10 hours on it. Today for its first shakedown after being prepped for a 530 mile desert race, bike shuts down 12 miles into first test run. Bike was in 6th gear not really revved high. Started to slow down and downshifted into 5th and bike quit . Bike will turn over, has gas and spark but will not start. We took spark plug out and there is no compression coming out of cylinder. What the hell could be going on. Plug shows bike was jetted a little rich. Took valve cover off and everything is moving and looks good. Race is Friday morning and looks like we are screwed unless you guys have any idea what might be causing problem. I'm thinking valve or broken ring. On a bike with less than 10 hours on it I find it hard to believe its one of those. What ya think?

we had a 2008 510 low mile bike lose compression.small part of the top edge of the piston broke off and went thru the exhaust valves causing valve damage .dan

10 hours, 0 hours, 30 hours, 100...it can happen. Sometimes you get the bad ring/piston/valve....

I know a guy who went to pick up his brand new KTM 450. Kicked it over in the parking lot and next thing you know oil is running out of a crack in the cases....needless to say that he went weeks waiting for parts and repair. Funny thing is to this day that bike drinks gas like my motorhome. Runs OK, but it aint right.

Its hard to be sanguine about these things when prepping for a race, but s@*t happens.
