• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Help identifying speedo

I bought this speedo many years ago, from somebody who didn't know what model bike it was for, to fit on my 410 TE , but decided against it.

Can any of you knowledgeable people tell me what model bike it is from please ? I have recently bought a 1979 WR 390 ,with it's speedo missing :) , and I was hoping that this type of speedo was originally fitted. But , knowing my luck , it wasn't !

The clock face measures approx.3 1/2" across and the depth of the clock is approx. 2 1/4". It is made in Japan by ND ( Nippon Denso ?) , the box it came in had a no. stamped on it , 989221-0110.

I have a 1979 250WR and a 1983 250WR, that speedo is newer, like, 1986, 1987
The cable is smaller dia. and won't mate to the drive on the front axle
1979 should have a VDO with no blue light
Have the same one "as garage art" you have, the bikes have the originals

looks like my original Australian spec 84 wr 240 speedo, check out my rebuild thread, I think there is a picture of the speedo sitting on the 400.... I half pissed spo I cant be sbothered looking it up..hic:o

Thanks for the replies ! I thought I was expecting too much hoping that it was off the earlier bikes :(

It can sit on the garage shelf for another few years :)

now im sober its definitely US spec with the highlighted 55 mph line.... mines got 6 km's on it.

Thanks again for all your replies gents  At least I know now what the speedo is off .

I don't suppose anybody has a kickstart lever for a WR 390 that they would like to sell to me ? I've got the knuckle , but somebody has had the lever , and I'm struggling to find one :(

Cheers !

I need the entire kickstart lever assembly for my 390WR

As far as the speedo goes I have the same on my 85 400WRX and seem to have the same speedo drive on the 84 250WR
