• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I need some help identifying a bike I bought . I was told that its an 1985 CR 500 but Im not so sure . Frame number is CP02690 . No number on motor . Raised pad on left case near kick starter is blank (?) . Could engine number be somewhere else ? Number on cylinder near intake reads 1614582 . Thanks in advance .

hi will, you perhaps post this in the left kicker section, it will get a lot more views. it does indeed look to be 85/86 style. it also looks to be a cr, judging by the "cp" frame number and the long square alum stay running back to the rear drum.
the number you read on the cylinder is its part number. you could look to see if this lines up with a 500 jug perhaps. the only engine number will on the left block half, just behind kicker. some are stamped in and some areon a raised pad. some are faint, some are ground off. should be 8 numbers, 2 groups of 4. the last 4 are what will say the info you need. however, this only identifies the case half. all 82-88 2 stroke stuff swaps around quite easily and may times the innards are not original. bike looks good tho! feel free to post more pics!

1985 500 CR is what you have there. 2 of the 5 we sold @ the dealership had center case problems when new. they were replaced and the replacement cases don't come with #'s on them. maybe thats the case with this motorcycle.
