• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

HELP! 08' TE610 Acting up

Hello CH members!

First off, I'm obviously new here. Bought an 08 TE610 recently and its started to give me a bit of trouble today. I've looked around the interweb and I've got a lot of good info but I'm hoping for some extra help. Here is the deal...

I noticed the neutral light would blink on and off a few times. Some days it would, others it wouldn't. I checked around and it appears it could be the switch itself or an actual FI malfunction but I ignored it because the bike was running fine.

But then...this afternoon I took the bike for a ride. Started fine, no problems and ran perfect. Stopped it and went to workout. When I turned it on again the neutral light was blinking while in gear and solid then blinking while in neutral(like the manual states). Then the bike started backfiring and running rough at low rpm. It even stalled on me! Then I noticed the cooling fan turned on, then off. I haven't had too much seat time on this bike but it seemed like it was overheating. The clutch and stator cases felt really hot to me.

So reading a bit on the internet I did the following;

-checked H20 thermostat, read 1.5k at luke warm temp.
-ordered 2 replacement thermostats just in case
-checked coolant level (was topped off)
-checked as best I could for frayed wiring.

My questions are; am I going in the right direction by changing the temp sensor? Or is there really something wrong with the FI system that I need to check out? I don't have access to iBeats but I will look around for someone who does if that's what needs to be done.

I'm very new to these bikes so I'm not quite sure the route I should take. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Was it three flashes of the N light?

That usually signals a temperature sensor failure. Replacing the sensor cured it, in my case.

Yes, 3 blinks then solid for 1 second.

Another question for everyone...I ordered p/n 8000H3649 because I read Husky superceeded the OEM p/n. Did I order the correct one?

Figured out what it was....this may come in handy for anyone who has the same trouble.

So I replaced the temp sensor and the bike still ran the same. Blinking neutral light, it was popping/backfiring, and stalling out. So I figured it had to be something loose or broken. Turns out the 2.2k resistor had a broken lead and was no longer making contact. If I moved it around, it would intermittently make a connection. As soon as I fixed it, the bike ran perfect!

Just a heads up.
