• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

HELP 06 SM610 quits when warmed up:

Husqvarna
A Class
Fires up like it should, runs great, I mean really strong, but after I ride for half an hr or so, it shuts down, I mean like a light switch. Start it back up, it runs for about 15 sec and it shuts down like turning off a light switch. The next day it will fire right up and run great. After about 15-20 mi it happens all over again. It's not overheating. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thx
Larry

I wonder if it is some kind of electrical problem that is triggered by heat. Like a bad relay?

I'm thinking something along those lines. I just hate the thought of paying for hours of service and fixing multiple things before it can be found.

Check the wires that run down the frame by the header. If they don't have heat tape, they can melt.

I know that's true for the 630; wasn't sure about the 610. I have pics of mine before/after heat shielding.

My wires are all in tact. They run up the inside of the frame tube, away from the header. Thx for your input.

It's been raining all day. Will try tomorrow. But why would it just start doing it now? I don't doubt you, but just asking.

Well, I tried what you have suggested and I do believe you were right. I think the problem has been rectified. I'll know more after I put a few more miles on it.

Thx for all your replies !!!

Glad you appear to have it sorted, never underestimate the power of a vent line! We had that problem with one of our diesel tractors, it would lose a lot of power and start smoking after running for a while (we bought it SUPER cheap because the guy thought it needed an overhaul). After we had it for a week, I went to fuel it up one day and the fuel cap was near impossible to take off, when I did there was a loud "whump" sound and I felt wind rushing INTO the fuel tank for a second. Turns out, the only problem with that tractor was that it had a non-vented fuel cap on it!

So this happened to me just yesterday! Started the bike n my low fuel light was on. I usually have about 15-20 til it's actually empty. Rode 2 miles and it died. Tried starting had a good crank but just didn't fire up. Pulled the enrichment n tried and nothing. I gave it a little gas while starting still nothing. Idk if it was flooded w gas but it was blowing out white smoke. Instantly though maybe coolant or oil leak in the combustion chamber and I need new rings!
I trucked it home put a gal of gas in and the tank was under a lot of pressure. When I took the cap off it vented more than ever. Ran it for a few minute through the RPMs and seem fine. No white smoke. I need on of those shorty gas cap vents.

Glad it was an easy fix and no ring problems. That's gotta be a big relief.
