• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Okay, I searced the best I know how and came up empty. My stock headlight bulb failed and I know, I know, I need to upgrade but I just dont have the $$$ right now. I just need to replace the stock bulb and I cant find one anywhere. My local dealer doesnt even have one and if he did he said it was $15 bucks.

Does the '08 use the same bulb as an '06?

If so

Click

That one is 45 Watts, a slight upgrade.

If you want stock 35 Watt search for 6235B

Also some snowmobiles and ATV's use the same size bulb, so you might find one if you have a shop like that in your area.

If it is not the same as an '06, sorry that's all I got for ya.

That is the one I use in my 2006 TE250 as well, stock was 35W.

I believe our local auto supply store carries them, perhaps slightly more calling around and you could find one local? (assuming it is the same one).

I believe the 6235B is what is used on many KTMs also. I am also not sure what the '08+ uses. Should say on hte old bulb, perhaps post that info up?

I shopped around today. Napa, AutoZone, Pep Boys, no luck.

Hey Tracy, I have some 60 watt bulbs here at the shop, and I think I may have one 45 watt left. I bought a bunch of 45 watt from bulbs.com, but I think I gave all of them away. I use a trailtech light now, so you can have the one out of my stock light. Swing by the shop and pick it up. I still haven't got the replacement seal for your clark gas cap yet, I have been slacking.:)

I meant a *real* automotive shop. Not a kmart type place. :p

A place like this should have it
http://www.monumentcarparts.com/

You need to swing by and pick me a couple up and deliver them. Bring your bike and we can take a run down to San Felipe!

Thanks Ken,
I ordered 3 of them and they'll be here next week. That will hold me over for a while I hope! I will be by sometime soon to pick up my straps I left in your truck when I get a chance.

I was wrong, and I apologize. Just went there (finally) and no bulbs. I also must have ordered them online somewhere.

Got 3 of them delivered for under $10 from Dennys link. Thanks Denny.

I'll still run ya down to San Felipe if you want to make the truck down!

Will the 45 Watt bulb melt the headlight housing?

So far so good, but I've only done about 350 miles since I replaced the bulb in mine. Cold weather is here now so I won't really have any idea until spring. Temps are low enough now that the heat will be absorbed pretty quickly by the air. I have read of others who used that 45 watt bulb, and not seen any reports of problems with that one. Hey, I am new to this bike so I can't say for sure.

Bulb headlamp halogen 12V/35

Bulb Bilux/semi halogen 12V/45

I've been researching this and found a couple of other bulbs that look like they should work.

Just wondering if anyone tried these?

I am thinking it might be best to just save up and go for the Trail Tech one, it gets good reports from everyone and is not prohibitively expensive. I could experiment with these bulbs that might be plug and play, but 4 of those will pay for half the cost of the Trail Tech one.

I can't find any reports on this one that was mentioned at ThumperTalk

I used a 45W for a long time now. No melting and works great for me. I tried 55W but that dimmed the headlight too much when I applied the brakes at idle... and it really was too hot.

Sounds great. Both you getting the bulbs and the invite, not sure when another Mexico trip is in my future though. :)
