  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Has anyone tried an Aprilia fuel pump?? TE310/450/510

I recently got an Aprilia scooter that has fuel pump issues. While searching for parts online, I noticed that a lot of Aprilia model motorcycles have a very similar looking fuel pump/housing to the ones in the fuel injected Italian Husky, 2008+.

I have two tanks, if I want to swap them out I have to remove the fuel pump assembly and switch it between the two. It would be nice to have a second pump setup.

Well, there are several on Ebay for under $100. I might just pull the trigger, but if anyone has tried it please let me know.

For a while, the Cacycleworks pump was the go to replacement and was reasonably priced. Knock on wood, my stock pump has never had an issue in thirteen years

Yes, but the CA CycleWorks pump was just the pump itself and not the entire housing, sending unit, etc. I had my original pump start to fail me out in the desert, I was fortunate enough that I pulled it out and tapped it a few times with a wrench and it started working again and I got back to my truck. I replaced it with a cheap one from Ebay and it has worked fine.

I would just like to have a complete setup for my second tank so I can quickly swap them out if I want to run the small tank or the large one.

I sold a few parts on Ebay, so decided to use the proceeds to buy one of these pumps just to see if it would work. I got one from an Aprilia Tuono for $40, similar to the one I posted above but it has a bit shorter pump body and no angle like that one.

I got my stock tank out of the rafters and tried to mount the pump to the tank. No go, the base plate is just a bit different size. The wiring is exactly the same, and when I plugged it into the bike the pump spun up.

Well, it was a good experiment and at least now I have some spare parts. Would have been nice to have a second complete pump assembly so I could swap tanks without swapping pumps but I guess not yet.
