  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I'm in the process of shopping for a set of hand guard and I was wondering whar kind of mount people are using on the te449/511 I'm kind of lost there not a lot of room on this bar

I realy like the look of the cycra just wonder if the crm mount work on are set up, the hdb look nice but by the time they get here they will cost me 200$+
hard to justifie for a set of hand guard

I had Cycras, and they're solid. I'm not sure what clamps you'd need for your bike. HDB guards are expensive, but worth the money, if you have it.

I have the cycras and they work well, the dealer put them on then I got charged for them when I bought the bike. Usually I use Acerbis.2012-03-24_09-02-30_198.jpg2012-03-24_09-02-48_937.jpg2012-03-24_09-03-02_552.jpg

I like the mounting hardware as it went around cables. It will not leave much room for other bar accessories.

One nice thing about the HDB setup is that it leaves you plenty of room on your bars for other stuff.

My last bike I used Cycras twice because one feel off and i went with them again they mounted to the triple clamps which i liked. This time I want to use Flexx bars and the only compatable guards are cycras so that's most likely what I'll be running again. You might also want to check out fastway http://www.promotobillet.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=22 they make a great product.

Do the highway dirt bikes guards drop on the side like Cycra pro bends do?

I use the cycra crm on my 12 310, I chopped an inch off, was kinda a bitch to get mounted but they work well for $120

I'm sure you'll be happy with the HDB setup. For the most part, I did it for the mirrors. But, one of my favorite parts is the pushbutton mounted on the top clamp that opens my garage door. :)

i installed the cycra center reach on my 11 txc449 and they seem to work very nice , i did add alum. spacers/washers to get all of my cables to fit.
overall a nice fit

Okay, the highwaydirtbike have a great mirror set up. It folds away into the handguard. When you don't need the mirror, it pivots back into the handguard.

As far as options, our bikes are 1-1/8 inch, so that is your starting point.

I love my Highway Dirt Bike hand guards. These are the only handguards that can survive. I have a box of old broken handguards that I just can't seem to throw away, knowing that over the years is over $ 1000. worth of rubbish. The HDB's will not bend with a or twist like all of the other brands. I have seen a tree uproot it's self and run away way when I blew that corner up the road a few rides ago.

My only gripe is how stiff the they make my bars feel, no flex at all.

I use Ego barkbusters. They have a metal bar running down middle. Fit well onto std Magura bars with a bit of wiggling of the other hardware on the bar. They've stood up to plenty of abuse and have slid down tarmac with only few scratches (deep mind), but bars protected hands and levers.:applause:

Seems HDB has a great product here. Will order mine once I figure out all the correct specs for a 2011 TE 449.

I need those specs too, just been too busy to get them. Im ordering a set with mirrors as soon as i get off my ass and measure what I need.
