• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Guts Seat on my 08 TE 250

Decided to try a softer seat foam. Guts foam and cover.

It's a little softer and you sit a little closer to the ground.

That's what I wanted to hear. I need to ship mine off for some of that softer foam.

last pic.

Did you install the cover yourself? I must of used 400+ staples to get 15 to partially staple. I tried two different staple guns with the same result.

Let us know what gun and size of staples you used.

May I move this thread to Common Topics?

While it does have a pic it seems like more of a bike related thread than a ride report.

If you pop for the shipping, Guts does the install for free. Its well worth it.

very nice looking seat!

Swampds:
air staple guns are the way to go- don't bother with normal snap staple guns... harbor freight sells them cheap- rent/borrow it if you have to...

They prominently offer a staple gun (air) and a certain # of staples for the do it yourself types. Didn't realize they would cover it if I sent them the seat. Got it done locally.

They also offer a step seat kit. Looks like you add the step piece onto the stock foam and then use the new step seat cover.

Could you snap a side pic with the whole bike?

Put a side pic on the gallery in the first post.

I'm eventually going to put some graphics on the bike, just haven't decided yet. I'm mixed about the looks of the seat from the side, but with other color graphics it may look better. Mostly wanted the functional side of a softer, more comfortable seat and thought I might be a little closer to the ground. Maybe need about 1/2 in. to be completely flat footed.

My seat went out last Tuesday. It's on it's way back today. I cant wait to get it and put a ride in on it.:D

I have a Guts tall soft foam and competition cover on my '07 TE. The foam is great, soft but still supportive. The cover is good but I would go with the all grip cover next time.
*-For do it yourselfers-*
Lessons learned:
Don't use a heavy duty crown stapler ( 18ga.). The staples are too thick and if you use the "if some is good, more is better" theory, you will crack the seat pan. ( Yes I did it)
Use an upholstery stapler, it uses lighter gauge staples.
Stagger the staple location a little, don't put them all in a perfectly straight line. This can also contribute to the cracking possibility.
Use a foam compatible glue that can be removed if necessary. Don't use super strength spray adhesive because once it's stuck, it's stuck.

I got my seat back on Wednesday. It was just okay looking. I thought it would have a more seamless fit, but ended up looking small and not filling gaps around the edges of the bodywork and tank. It was the two color comp seat cover and standard height soft foam. I didn't seem to be able to touch the ground noticeably better with it and it was somewhat more comfortable at first, but long into the ride after a few hours, my rear end was aching from a hard spot. I was able to detect the base through the foam. (Maybe I should have gotten medium foam) Also I seemed to sit a teeny bit lower and it made my handlebars feels a tad too high, so I have sort of mixed feelings about the seat. I wouldn't call it a success, exactly.

I forgot to mention that my seat foam and cover fit the same way. It is too narrow in the front and you can see the tank shroud mounting bolts under the seat now. I called Guts and told them about it but they weren't too enthused about revamping their design.

It's possible that they just don't have it together yet for the Husky seat design, as I have a Guts Comfort seat for my KTM and Eric has one for his WR426 (it was a custom order for someone that never picked it up and they sold it to him for a very good price) and they are both of superb quality with excellent fit and finish. We've had them about 2 years and they still look brand new.

When I ordered my seat, I wanted all black. They sent me an orange one instead. After opening the box and gakking all over my living room, I called them and they were very apologetic. They sent out the black one right away and sent me a pick-up order for the orange one. Very painless process for me.

Hopefully they'll get the Husky thing figured out because the seats themselves are very comfy. Of course, my cement patio is very comfy in comparison to the KTM seat...

Here are few pics so everyone can see how this fits on my bike.

I was hoping for better fit and detail.:( I must say, they turned the work around fast and got it back to me quickly and the materials and stitching look rugged.

Yep, mine looks the same way. The cover is fine, it's the foam that is too narrow. When you hold the foams side by side you can see the difference.
