• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Grips....

I need to get a grip or two as mine are worn. I like the half waffle. My big hands like a standard grip size so not seeking fatties. What brand is the favorite as each make that pattern. Appreciate the feedback. Pro Taper, Renthal, etc... Normally I'll spray some hair spray and safety wire them but I find in time they will move a bit especially if I auger in the dirt. Worth buying grip glue or use something else ?

I could ride with these PRO Taper pillow grips without gloves on the street for sure and trails and track I think if it was not was protection on crashes ...

These grips along with ~slightly bigger than needed gloves go a long way in helping my hands retain a glimmer of flexibility and not turn into handsOfStone...

No pillows here so I just got theses yesterday at a reasonable price ... I think they will be OK but not as comfy as the pillows ...

Not sure well either hold up if all muddy ... No glue needed for me ...

Really like the Pro Taper pillow tops. I also like the Renthal half waffle.

Recently installed some Pro Taper pillow tops on my sons bike. We used Scott brand Grip Stick. It is purple in color; we applied it liberally to the bar end and the inside of the grip. When sliding the grip on the glue essentially got pushed along the leading edge of the grip; I removed the grip and saw that almost no glue remained on the bar or in the grip where needed. The purple color really made this helpful. I used my finger to smear it on the handlebar and inside the grip, let it get a little tacky and slid the grip back on - has been rock solid.

I have been using ODI cush MX grips on my TE 450, and I like those, but decided to try the ProGrip pillow grips this time around. Only rode with them once, but they seem nice.

I really like the Domino dual compound grips. They have been the OEM grips on my... '09 WR125, '12 Husaberg TE250 and '15 Husky TE125. They are available from Domino, in various colors, without bike branding on them.

Nice... A couple of options. Standard and Dually.

The bottm pic are the ones that came stock on my TE. I like em, but an intrigued by these pillow grips I hear people speak of. That sounds nice. Imagining getting tired on the trail, taking off my helmet and resting for a while on my grips.

wow, thats crazy:D....didnt even notice that! great to have your knowledge of all 3 husqvarnas here norm!

Tag rebound grips. I wont use anything else after discovering these. Get the half size ones if you dont like em fat.

And Moose used to make a really nice half-waffle. I got the domino dual compound and a Tamer throttle tube from G2 recently.
Both parts were cheaper on the G2 site than anywhere else, go figure? Nice parts.

As for glue, I've tried mounting with Pro Taper glue and it dries so quick that I only get the grip half way on before it was bound and couldn't get it off without cutting my brand new grip off. So I've started using alcohol to slide them on, then after that dries, I use a small screw driver to lift the grip a little so I can squirt some glue in there. Then safety wire.

However I saw my friend, just this weekend, mount his scott grips with either scott or rental glue. He absolutely soaked the bar with the stuff and shoved the grips right on there. It squeegeed a lot of the glue off as he pushed the grip on, but it worked and the grips are on there solid. You can see where the Pro Taper is more like crazy glue, but the scott/renthal my friend used was more like a rubber cement. He had to take the throttle housing off and clean out the squeegeed glue, too, which I didn't like.

I rode his bike after, those scott grips are pretty nice, BTW.

I used 3M 77 Spray Adhesive and happy with it. Spray on bar and inside grip and then safety wire the grips. I keep a spray bottle of 50% alcohol/water to clean up fingers and excess. 77 specced for plastics, papers, foams, metals, etc...

oury pyramid grips. (feel the power of the Pyramid!) If you have smaller or average sized hands and want to feel in control of your bike with precise steering try these outs. Down side is you can wear them out a little quicker as they are a thin rubber. I have run these grips for 20 plus years and love them. Tried Many other grips. The stock Domino's are removed immediately. For riding fast I WANT TO BE IN CONTROL. A thick comfortable grip may be fine for a Harley but I want to have maximum rider input and these do the trick for me at least....
