• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Graffunder 6th at Erzberg

Nice showing for Cory and Husky.

My friend Don went over on a whim to race. He went out to the prologue the first day as rider 1774 and qualified 53rd, just outside the front row.

The second day he qualified 33rd, a coveted front row starting spot.

The results show him making it as far as checkpoint 5, putting him 291 out of 502.

Not a bad showing!:applause:

Our very own Knevo from CH went over with him for rider support.

We did our best to train him on some tough rides, looks like we need to push him harder for next year.:D

3rd american!! behind Casselli and Geof Aaron!! Not bad company!!

I see 5th with Kyle Redmond and a guy from Hawaii in there but who's counting anyway? :D

Later,

We know that Joe, but I think they were talking about how Don finished relative to other Americans. By the way nice showing from Lettenbichler (2nd), Lampkin (3rd) and really impressive first showing for Casseli at 8th! Of course Taddy is way out in front with only Andreas nipping at his heals. Where the heck is David Knight?

Cory G is a Canadian BTW. But whos counting.

I got a text message this morning from Knevo that said Don made it to checkpoint 13 before the bike broke in Karl's diner. Scoring was messed up somehow.:banghead:

If he was the last one to CP 13 it would put him in 94th... That is if no one else had their scoring messed up.:excuseme:

Great ride Don!:applause:

Later,

I talked to Cory last night right after the finish. He was very tired and headed for the shower and a bed. Here's his report:

It sounds like Jarvis may have actually won or at least should have finished second but was DQed for missing a check.

Event was very tough, much tougher than last year.

The downhills were insane, basically bulldog and slide through big piles of boulders. Like being in a semi-controilled avalanche all the time.

He got off to a slow start and made a couple of bad decisons that cost him some serious time at the start. One time going off course and having to extricate his bike from the top of a tree. After he finally got going he began picking off riders all the way to the finish.

He rode most of the event with a two inch wide and deep lacerationin his arm as a result of one of the falls.

He was happy to finish but was really gunning for a podium and feels he has some unfinished business there.

He explained the amount of support that is being employed on some of the sections was really unfair and the prerunnig that is going on is a little overdone.

He wanted to thank CH Racing and his mechanic Giorgio for all his/their help and Marcus and Mr. Zupin of Zupin Motors, the German Husqvarna Distributor for all their support as well. I want to thank all of vthem as well.

It was good to see Cory finish on top of all the other U.S. based riders including Caselli, Aaron and Redmond. It really will help his confidence as we move towards the start of the U.S Endurocross season.

Cory still has Romaniacs to do so we will see how he fares there.

Cory should do quite well over there that's the kind of terrain he like to ride.

Cory just interviewd with Dan Paris from OffRoadMotorcycle.ca. Great interview, check it out.

Here is a piece....

Are you staying healthy and happy?

Yes. Well, my elbow got opened up at Erzberg. I don’t know how it happened. I didn’t feel it but ended up getting stitches in my elbow. It’s funny, I was working my way through a rock section and I looked down and there was blood all over the bike, on the tank, on the bar pad. I was like, “Eww, whose blood is that?” I didn’t even realize it was mine! I pulled my sleeve up and just saw a scratch and thought, “Well, that can’t be bleeding that much.” But after the race I had my sleeve rolled up and some guy ran over and said, “Don’t bend your elbow!” I guess whenever I bent my arm it opened up and you could see all the muscles and tendons and bones and stuff. But it was on the backside where I couldn’t see, and since I couldn’t feel it I had no idea.

:eek::eek::eek:

Great effort Cory! I hope your arm heals quickly! This guy sounds for real also ... He's gonna do alot more on that Husky ....

Great interview also:
Ya, Erzberg is such a big deal the hospital just opens their doors to everyone. There are lines of people in there with smashed faces and broken arms and legs from the rocks. They just patch ‘em up and send them on their way.
