Good clutch, Bad clutch

So I was riding in some nasty, nasty slop, attempting a hill climb, and this is what I did to my clutch.

I believe this was the original clutch that came with the bike in 09. This has over 240 hours of ride time on it between myself and the previous owner (who is no slouch).

I thought I broke a plate or something, since i had NO forward momentum when I released the clutch. The steel plates and fibers just wouldn't grab eachother anymore.

Also, thought I oughta clean up the case covers since I had them off..

Thats good clutch life but I am surprised that is doesn't grab at all. Usually they slip like mad but still work somewhat. Cam.

I know, it was crazy.... I can't believe it either. I ran the bike through all the gears, slowly letting out the cluch, while making adjustments at the lever, and nothing. It would pull the slack out of my chain, but not even close to forward momentum.

Here is how we got it back. I have a new found respect for side x sides.

Blake, that is a little interesting the plates lost all traction ... Do you live on that clutch when riding your bike?

As for the fix, do you have to replace the steel plates AND fiber plate both in this case? I'm guessing that normally just the fiber plates need replacing ...

That is a gnarly looking bike and a gnarly way to bring a bike outta the woods ...

Are these plates the same size as on a 250 engine?

I do use the clutch a lot... every corner to be exact, and I think that is a flaw in my riding style, that I'm going to try to change to conserve energy.

I'm not sure If I had to change both, but with over 240hrs (on an hour meter, not my best guess), on the original clutch, I think it was time.

No idea on 250 sized plates

Ray the 250 uses the same size as a CR250. Quite a bit bigger than the 125. So check out the Honda stuff. I think most late year models work. You better check on that as it has been a while since I messed with the 250.
