  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

You must be unlucky at your work site or you have a much rougher job than my last one ...Are you a WWE wrestler? :)

Good luck on your rest time heal up quickly! Maybe its time to drink more milk?

Well, with broken ribs you should be going bat-shit crazy every time you move, cough or even breathe. That's a painful injury - I've done it twice. Now that was many, many years ago and if I recall close to correctly in a few weeks you'll be feeling a lot closer to normal and a few months to feel confident they're back to full strength. Sorry to hear about it- wish you a speedy recovery. I feel your pain (sort of- staring at the bike)- I recently learned I have a few permanently damaged discs in my neck causing pinched nerves/arm tingling. Maddening, but PT is supposed to help and doc feels optimistic I'll be on the bike again. Gettin' older sometimes sucks! :)

Too bad on your neck ... That might can be a ride stopper or at least demote you to only street riding :(.. I'd do alot of reading on your subject matter and see what help you can find.

I'm 56 and your words are exactly why I try so hard NOT to hurt myself ... I laid on my couch for ~5 weeks a couple yrs back letting a collar bone heal... And it was a total dumd-a$$ crash on my part... Ever notice those fast guys get those really bad injuries when they do crash? It's a goal not to be like that. I might cut back on my racing this yr also

You guys are gonna have to see life for something other than bikes for some length of time ,.. Sad maybe, but its your destiny.

If it's really broke, wait for the bone to heal then stretch!! I had 3 broken ribs and nothing helped more than using them (after the bone heals)

8 weeks for bone to re-calcify. Wear a kidney belt, etc..maybe, and exercise as you can but don't fall on your ribs while they are healing. After 8 weeks go for it.

I have found lower breaks, especially 7-11 can really cause pain when trying to ride from weeks 10-16. Uppers seem to be fine.

Richard where and which ribs did you break?

We had a good buddy fall on a concrete gas pump protector and broke anterior 8-12 ribs. He was out for almost 5 months before it was pain free. For two solid weeks it hurt to breathe and if someone cracked a joke we would wind up laughing and then crying in pain.

The night I came home from lung surgery where they broke 3 ribs I got the hiccups, no joke. You can "will" yourself out of a sneeze but hiccups are un-stop-able. I really thought I was going to die. Thank God for modern medicine ;)
