• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

TE/TC Getting a new 2015 TE300, tell me what I am in for?

95jersey

Husqvarna
AA Class
Coming from an Italian Husky 310TXCR and YZ250 (2T). After doing research on Beta, Gas Gas, KTM and Husky, I have decided on a TE300.

So what can I expect? Also, are there any widely know issues or immediate mods that I should be aware of (jetting, suspension, set up).

I am 200lbs, so I assume the forks needs to go out for new springs and a revalve? I ride hare scrambles and single track in mostly sandy conditions (like FL).

Going to get some real hand guards...anything else I need to be aware of? How is the stock pipe, seat, bars, any recommendations?

congrats on the new ride. Nice bike. There are a few threads in here started by robertaccio that are must reads regarding the forks. Read through those to get a better feeling for what to expect out of the 4cs forks. The platform has been around for a while, although in orange and it is pretty well proven. Toss whatever guards or accessories you prefer on it, fill her full of gas and go rip.

A beautiful, very light feeling powerhouse. Might need bongers sorted. Will be fast. Slap some handguards and skid plate on it and ride like the wind.

Seats are like any other KTM, get it done. Seat Concepts does a nice job.

Motor is good to go once jetted. I LOVE my Rekluse in my 300 Berg.

Set the suspension to the "Sport" settings in the manual and ride it first before you send it off.

Stock pipe works well. Still using mine with a lectron carb.

Enjoy the bike, it is probably the best 300 made now.

I have a 15' TE300. The bike has some serious power. Much more than previous years. Think YZ250 over-rev with the ability to pull the gnarliest hill climbs just off idle (or below) with the clutch out finding traction everywhere. The jetting is close from the factory. Maybe just drop the needle to the 2nd position or install a NECJ needle in the 3rd clip position. It comes with a 35 pilot and 172 main. Any smaller main and you loose the top end. Add some real hand guards and a proper skid plate and ride it. The forks are just a little under sprung for me at 198lbs. I am really aggressive and have a tendency to just smash through things at speed so just one size up on fork springs is all that I'm going to try. The suspension is really really good. The bike handles quite a bit better than my 12' KTM 300XC with $1k suspension work. The front end feels more planted and the bike seems to have an easier time finding traction in Romaniacs style terrain. As for the seat? I like it. Even covered in mud it still grips. I'm on the pegs 95% of the time anyway. I don't see any reason for an auto clutch on these either unless you have issues with your hand like carpal tunnel. I've found that the guys that run auto-clutches can't quite lug the bike down enough in the real tough spots to take full advantage of the 300 bottom end. (just my 2 cents) The clutch is a bit grabby for the first 8 hours or so. After that it's just like my 12' XC. You are going to love this bike.

I placed a deposit on a 2015 TE300 and was starting to get a little apprehensive after reading about all the dislikes with the 4cs fork so it's a breath of fresh air to hear some positives about the bike!

Got a good bit of work done on the new 300 today. I replaced the brake fluid with Motul RBF660 and got switched over to zipty coolant. Also greased the head and swingarm/linkage. Can't wait to play with the power valve settings!

What about the fan kit and the map switch? I ride in tight single track, should I get the fan kit?

Also, does the map switch come stock or do I have to purchase separately?

We'll dealer lied to me about having a TE300 in stock and then could not get one. In the meantime another dealer reached out to me out of nowhere with a smoking deal on a new GAS GAS 300. So I am now a GAS GAS owner (as well as a Husky owner). In the end I am very happy as I saved $3000 off the price of the TE300 and got a brand new Gas Gas.
