  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Any tips on getting to the bolt on gear lever
ring spanner will not squeeeze in there and sockets too big
real awkward - :excuseme:
anyone have trouble changing gears - I am going to raise lever as I seem to have trouble changing up - seems like there is no extra gear there when there is

On the earlier chassis...if I remember correctly....try snicking it in gear and hold the lever upward all the way (against the spring pressure)....then a 8mm (1/4 inch DR) socket and ratchet does the trick

also make a felt pen mark on the gear lever/shaft.. before you slide it off the spline...that way you will have something to go by when you put it back on...

Thanks but I have tried that but the ratchet head doesnt fit between the lever and the frame
need one with a really small head?
the bolt is hard u against the lever so ring spanner cant fit in
bolt is on lower side of lever.

it is a bugger... i have a 1/4 drive set i use and when got it out, i replaced it with an allen bolt....won't have that issue again... ps, can't you get onto it was a small ring spanner ?

Not sure if earlier models are the same, but just went through this experience on a 2011 TE449....then realised the hex head also has a socket head recess in it - no problem getting the allen key in there.

I used a 1/4" drive ratchet with a shallow 8mm socket to loosen mine and used my fingers to do the rest on my'10 wr144.
