  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc gas cap

I had a problem with my 09 300 gas cap too. Gas all over. I went and got some rubber gasket material at the autoshop and cut out another gasket and that worked ok. I have since replaced it with a Project 321. Works great and looks good

That is one pricey gas cap.

sorry the bike is a 2012 wr125 if I tighten the cap tight it pops loose

Like it pops off the threads? If I recall Husky had 2 different thread pitches for some reason on their tanks. Do you have a local dealer? Maybe they would let you take your bike over and "try on" a different gas cap and see how it fits. If it screws on without popping off the threads, you could just order that part with the part number. Also, you might want to call Project 321. Even if you don't intend to buy one, they were very familiar with the husky gas cap issues and might be able to get you some good info. They were the ones who made me aware that it was not entirely uncommon to have an issue with the gas caps on these bikes.

The seal is an issue, I filled up our wr 150 last time and when finished saw this seal on the ground and thought wheres that from and discounted it, then shortly thereafter realised it was off the gas cap.

Its worth noting every time you fill.

I do the same thing after I refill my bike. Not a big deal to me, it's just part of paying attention to small details when out riding.

My 510SMR gas cap was a pain too. I filled the bike up once and went out for a night rip with a buddy and realized every time I rode a wheelie I was getting wetness on my leathers. Sniff sniff..wait thats gas! Rode 20 miles back to the gas station and there was my seal laying on the ground by the gas pump. Phweww..
