    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

i got a face-full of some gnarly branches in second gear sat, underestimated the density etc...ooops. visor etc took a whack, neck sore. i made it fine but my goggles took a complete thrashing. dual-pane lenses too so they are a little pricey. left side even came out of the frame, made the climb out really hard to see with the low afternoon sun on this damage. they didn't look saveable. 3 big white lines and tons of haze and scratches.

enter Meguiar's Mirror Glaze Clear Plastic Polish. killed the haze, gouges and brought them back to useable condition. i've used it on street bike windscreens, truck lamp lenses, etc. works really well on my goggle lenses it turns out and i saved a pricey dual-pane. doesn't work on stiff necks though. :lol: jack-n-coke in my Cafe Husky mug does. :D

I have often times thought my lenses were scratched beyond repair but cleaning them took the "scratches" off as they were more tree branch sap. etc than a scratch.
 
copy that. this wasnt pitch, we have "dry" branches here ;), thick live oak etc...pretty dry and hard. still got some gouges but they aint fuzzy or hazed. i was suprised as goggle lenses are kinda soft but...stuff worked like a charm i'm very pleased to say.

what do you use for pitch on the lenses? lighter fluid seems to do ok for me if i'm careful.

Glad your eyes a still there! What brand of goggles with the dual pane setup are you using? I'm tired of the fog!

smith warp goggles. forgot who makes the panes. simple concept though as long as one is suspended from the other, there's an air space etc etc. i swear by these now. wont fog up, even after being denied twice on a gnarly rock covered POS climb saturday. i was gassed and drenched and sweat was running down my neck but the lenses never fogged. makes no-fog stuff a thing of the past out here. plus ya got two panes to protect yer peepers.....not sure why i waited so long to get these, year before last i think it was? i aint that bright! :busted:
 
yeh- you have some interesting conditions up there...mr. frosty sauna.

im curious. does no-fog additives with dual-panes make any diff in the PNW or are blower motors mandatory?
 
Man, I was attempting to use the glasses at Walker last month and between the cold temps and the workout we were getting dragging bikes out of dead end trails I ended up going with nothing so I could at least see. Wrong answer for sure. I think David was wearing some dual panes and wasn't having the issues with fogging up. He was sweating like the rest of us. That place is quite interesting, very Reiter-like with big rocks, big roots, big puddles and snow! 23 miles and we were all smoked!
 
im in after my foot takes a set!

ive had mine wet inside w/ sweat from pushing and lifting in snow but so far no fog...

it musta been a dry cold. :D
 
I,ve never seen dual pane lenses but I am currently running scott's no fog fan system and am extremely happy with them. The goggles refuse to fog up even after stopping and taking a water break, but my prescription glasses will eventually fog up after about an hour or so. Dual pane sounds interesting for sure especially with all this cold weather everyone around the globe has been getting lately.
 
I ride with glasses. I'm from NH. We get all kinds of weather. In the summer we get the heat and humidity like they get down south or if we are lucky the nice stuff from cananda. My set up is a quick strap with dual pane scotts or if I'm racing and need tear offs a single pane. The quick strap is the most important thing. When I stop I automatically pull off the googles. This keeps the heat from building up inside ht ehelmet. Make sure you run a nicley vented helmet too. I don't seem to have much issues with single lens as long as I'm running the quick strap.
 
ah the ol quick straps. i used to use them but used the button on both sides right after the second time they got knocked off by a branch. the velcro thingy works ok if there's no danger of it getting swatted. i also installed an extra velcor patch on one side so i could hook the goggles onto my lid so they wouldnt flap or dangle etc...
