• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Funky Chicken AMA West National Hare Scrambles coming up soon, June 11-12.

Weve been building some great new trails and this event always draws a variety of Northwest and California fast guys ...

Maybe Zip-Ty can send some talent up to combat the orange hordes.

And the pit area is a cool camping spot, even if you arent a rider.

We still have slots available for the Funky Chicken and the forecast is for some warm sunny weather coming...finally. This is always a great event and red motorcycles are welcome.

It was a great day at the Funky Chicken with perfect conditions. Sunday turnout went against recent event downward trend and was almost up to last years participation level (we are seeing very low attendance at northwest off-road events...economy and gas are really squeezing riders).

Pro winner was Brian Garrahan on a Yamaha with a solid challenge by northwesterner Rory Sullivan until he faded with a flat front tire the last loop.

I saw two 125/144 Husqvarnas out there with our man Jake Metteer one of them

Red bikes remain few and far between at off-road events in the northwest...and Im not helping with my gimpy wrist. I have a WR300 and a TXC511 that need healthy riders ...!!

WORCS at Washougal in August. Hope to see some of you there .. maybe ZIP-TY can show up and fight the good fight.

Jake was there on his 125 and Shane was probably the other. . I was supposed to go and then got reminded by the wife unit we were having a graduation party... Doh. I have ridden with Rory once, super nice guy.

Glad to see Rory did good. He hoisted my unconscious butt out of the blackberries at the 2009 Funky Chicken. That is a tough race!

Well if Jake is not going to post them i will

Cool; and I am loitering in the background in several still shots (163, 173 among others) big guy in yellow ETRA shirt wearing straw hat. My motorhome with the yellow OMRA banner is in the back of several of the log shots. I was looking forward to those little screaming Huskies every lap.

I havent seen the results yet, how did Jake place?

I don't have a clue, we bolted before the results were posted. Who posts the results online? After my epic start and trips through the banners I was hoping for a mid pack finish. Then I had some pain issues the last part of the first lap and most of the second lap. I almost pulled off after the first lap but I pushed through and the pain went away. My last three laps were the best, I finally got into a good flow and was really having a good time.

Later,

That would be me trying to prevent a collision between a bunch of gas cans that people piled in that end of the pits and a screaming hoard of dirt bikes rounding the first turn

Obviously a less than ideal arrangement for all concerned. In the end one can got punctured and I got knocked to the ground in one wave when I got distracted by one sliding bike and the next one took me out at the knees.

All's well that ends well.

Nice shot of the start rounding turn 2.
