• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

AMA West Hare Scrambles Round 6, aka Funky Chicken

Bring your Husqvarna to fight back the orange horde :-)

We were out course building yesterday for the 2011 Funky Chicken AMA West Hare Scrambles. Lots of fast sections this year with some new technical stuff thrown in to demonstrate your skills. There are at least 2 lines on 95% of the course. Weather conditions have been great so far this year with occasional rain and generally mild weather; unlike last year when we had daily frog chokers right up until a week before the race.

Not only is this an excellent race, but it is a great location to spend a spring weekend. I run into lots of people who say this is the one place their spouse and kids like to come along just because of the great setting. Spectacular views from a hilltop pasture in the Oregon Coast Range.

LOC: Elkton, Ore.

I'll be there.

I drive through Elkton a few times a year on the way to the dunes and it is a beautiful area, for sure! And this one has been left unchecked on my bucket list for a while. I'll bring a few Husky's

I've raced there think seven or eight times. Some good, some bad. My avatar is in the pits at the FC. I'm on the fence right now on racing it again this year. We'll see.

Better go race it! Some day you'll be in the nursing home saying: Life sure went fast, I wish I would have done this and this and this!

Go get your rims dirty!
