• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Looking to replace the stock front on my '11 TE630 and just wanted to see what some experiences have been for those with 630s. I'm mainly 80/20 dirt/street and my terrain is mostly loose sand roads and jeep trails with a bit of deeper sand single track.
I've used in the past Dunlop D606 & Pirelli MT21 on smaller dual sports(IE TE450)but wasn't too stoked with either for my offroad travels and was thinking of trying the Pirelli scorpion pro or a Michelin AC10 but open to other options. My street consists of lower speeds and if at all a very short jaunt at 60 mph speeds so no heavy street miles or speeds per say.
I guess my biggest questions on the ones I'm thinking of trying is how they will fare with the weight of the TE630 rather then your more dirt oriented dual sport.

i run the Michelin AC10 on my 610 atm. i reckon its pretty good but i ride almost 100% dirt, and mostly single track. the few time i have done highway kms, it performed fine.

im pretty sure i will run it again when this one is shot.

i am interested to know what you run on the rear 1lunger? i have tried the 606 which was ok and i now have the motoz un-tracionator which is shit in the mud. i have been reading about the metzler mc4 which has good reviews. i might try that next if i can find one.

I've used the MT21 which is a good all arounder and better on harder surfaces than sand and mud from my experience.

If you are running lots of sand I'd pick an alternative and make sure you run lower air pressure. I've run 12 lbs psi in the front and back on my TE630 and less in my TE510 for sand. Coincidentally I've not had the tire turn on the rim and rip the valve stem with the TE630 with lower pressures like some have even without rim locks. I however use lots of baby powder in the tire and on the tube during install to reduce the friction between the two. With the TE630, of the tires I've tried, the Michelin Desert and Michelin Enduro Competition MS are far superior to the MT21/606 fronts for offroad especially sand, mud ect. The Desert was surprisingly long wearing even when getting some pavement use. Ive got a new Michelin Enduro Competition IV for when I want to ride on the edge in the sand at a little faster clip. I would rather have a Desert on the front than the MT21 even on the pavement.

2 on left..25% worn Comps MS, Then 30% worn MT21, then Michelin comp IV (best of the bunch for sand), then Desert and the stockers

I have the AC 1O on still. I only ride offroad with it and I love it for the conditions in NE. It won't last that long, but it works great while it does!

I'm running a Bridgstone 403 front tire w/14psi and very happy with it.

Just tried the Pirelli Scorpion Rally front yesterday.
It's a nice tire, and probably on par with a 606 Dunlop.
Like the MT-21, it is predictable. Seems to have a bit more off road bite.

I finally got rid of the worn Karoos, before a long remote trip to NW Colorado (Dinosaur Nat'l Monument). I put a D606 rear and MT21 front, and couldn't be happier. I'm a longtime D606 fan for previous bikes that do mostly offroad work. My one complaint about the D606 front is how it cups the front knobs just off center, while leaving the center row looking like new?

The MT21 feels great, predictable and you can trust it to hold while you point and shoot.

The MT21 wears kind of like that, too. I think it has more to do with pavement braking than anything else. The reason why I like the MT21 front over the D606 is that the MT21 is not a directional tire. As it wears, you can flip it around and even it out.

need to buy a rear very soon. whats the best tyre for mud/wet/winter riding? i had a d606 before the motoz and im thinking of that again if there are no better suggestions.

I went with the Michelin AC10. Mounting it up in the next day or two and then it's off to the trails.

I'm using the TeraFlex on the rear and the Trackmaster II on the front.
Ran a Motoz HT on the rear, but it was WAY too loud on paved surfaces.

Give the AC 10 a couple of heat cycles before you do any distance on the road! I have to admit, I don't ride on the road very much and thats why I like the AC 10 more than others. Off road it will hook up anywhere and beefy enough to run low psi also which helps. You will be happy with it! And only costs $70 shipped to my door.
