• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Ok, meant to add text to that first posting.

A friend just bought a 1999 Husky TE 610. I had a 1994 TE610, and the front forks on this 1999 bike seem like they have had the travel shortened. I asked the owner (original owner) and he said they had been revalved and also serviced, but the springs and travel were stock. Don't they look shorter than normal?

That is my ATK 605 next to it by the way.

My friend took the bike out today and I rode it a bit too. It does ride low in the front and feels kind of odd. But the kickstand works well (not like with a lowered bike where the bike stands up right too much). The suspension had been revalved and it actually work really well for slower-mid speed stuff. My friend liked it and will probably leave it as-is. I want to measure it and see what's up.

Gotta read up on these bikes bit. He has the official shop manual which is great. I remember my 1994 610 being easier to start than this one. Air filter is super clean, gotta check the valve clearances.

Fun bike.

My 99 610 was extremely difficult to start. I messed with the carb ALOT, and it did get better, but cold starting was always quite an ordeal. Warm starting seemed much easier. Good runner, good power, smooth without any stumbles really, just hard as hell to get started, I hear everyone likes to change the carb, but I injured my motor before I could look further into it.

Looks kinda low to me. Then again the '96 to '99 front fenders do seem to sit closer to the tire. Nice looking ATK!
