• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Fork spring cup in 2009 txc 450 forks, 50mm marzocchis. Technical question

4banger

Husqvarna
C Class
I took apart my 50mm forks on my 2009 450 txc and had a technical question that I could not find in the manual or online.

The spring cup(#13) is basically a washer with a seat or groove on one side. The manual doesn't say which way to put it on. I am second owner of the bike and the previous owner had serviced the forks. And when I took the forks apart, one spring cup was facing up on one fork and the other one was down on the other fork so I dont know the proper facing of the part.

Just need to know if the indent is up or down. Thanks in advance,

EDIT: See comments from other members below. Apparently I was thinking of a different washer than the question was asked about.

I appreciate the response. I put them back together. I scoured the internet for information and nothing. The washer fits between the fork seal and the upper bushing. I don't think it will harm anything either way put in but there should be a right way. Ill try to call marzocchi and see what they say. couldn't find an email for them either.

I'm pretty sure Zipty can answer your question.

The stepped side goes towards the seal and is supposed to help keep the seal centered. The seal can float and leak if it is installed the other way.

Later,

Thats how I put it in. the flat side toward the bottom guide bushing and the cupped side toward the fork seal.

I appreciate the response. I changed the oil to 5wt at 280cc and did the refill/air purge on the closed chamber. Hopefully will be better. thanks,d
