  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Footpegs for 82 250xc

mattmcphail

Husqvarna
AA Class
is there a good resource to find larger aftermarket footpegs for my '82 250? I want something a little more substantial than the little stock nubs I have.

These are the only ones I have found...

I made/ modded my own, ugly but made a HUGE difference (see the old peg inside the new). Bent some flat bar, tacked it on, took the pegs off and welded it up solid and then took a grinder and made the teeth.

These are the pegs that Husqvarna-parts.com look like.

Less the deburring, radiusing and nickel bling.

Definitely stout stuff like all of Phillips stuff!

welding on another set of pegs would feel like a pair of floor boards, not something you want to feel when charging into a set of whoops.

I have a set of the Husky Products ones on my 82 CR 250. Still too small for my size 13's! I'm welding on CRF450R mounts on my frame to increase my footpeg choices.
Kelly, I like your pegs, did those ones you got from me fit?

T, will do. Just waiting on a piston for my 84 WR250 and it will be back together. I will be back on my 500 project then. I'm actually thinking of moving them back a little also.

The IMS pegs bolt right on and are gnarly..........BUT they don't come with springs, the Husky springs won't work with them, AND they only fold up 10 or 15 degrees.
I tried grinding the pegs to get them to fold up higher, finally decided it would seriously weaken the peg to open them up to where they actually would fold up like they should.:censored:

Hey Scott, good to see you on here. (IT's Kelly, we have met several times) For those that do not know Scott owns a VERY cool set of tracks here in Washington. Anyway could you grind your frame instead of the peg or no? Those look like what i want.

I second what scoot said.
Though beefy, they IMS pegs will not fold up and snap back down like the stockers. Been there done that. To use them they have to be "hard mounted". Don't use the stock return spring and tighten them up so much that they don't move. If having folding pegs isn't an issue, they would work.

If folding pegs are required, spend the $80.00 for a pair of Phillip's HP repos. Like highdez's above. Bad as@@@ peg. Mount right up and stock springs are used.

Just my $.02 worth.

I remember you Kelly.

And no, I didn't think I could grind the frame peg without seriously weakening the mount.

The Huskyjunk Aluminum pegs actually fit and work well, with a wide toothy platform, but they are aluminum and will wear if you ride with them.

OK - so this thread has inspired me ... Here are the pegs I just bought from Ebay for $9.99

I have a few older pairs of pegs and with a bit of head scratching and some cutting and welding I am going to attempt to cook up some new pegs suited to my 73' CR400

I am not sure how to tackle the return spring issue - TBC.

I just did this very thing tonight. Had an extra Pair of KTM Pegs around so I Cut off there Mounting Bracket and then I Cut off the Husky Peg at the 1st Slot and Welded the Two togeather. Stock Husky Springs still work, no frame mods.

Bigfoot

Having size 13's most pegs are too small esp. stock Husky pegs. I have Husky Prod. ones on my 82 CR250 but they aren't any longer than the stockers. Obviously had too much time on my hands today so I finished up these pegs I started last fall. Put a boot on and measured what was needed for a good peg. Twisted some metal and TIG'd it together. Used a involute cutter on the mill for some "teeth". Drilled some lightening holes for looks only, I'm 275lbs, would it really matter? Haven't drilled the holes for the springs yet but the stock peg springs will work. Yes the pegs are long and may drag with my "bar dragging berm:thumbsup:shots", yeah right......
