Hello All
A question was asked in a DC Plastics XC500 thread, so I thought I would post a response here.
Anyway...answers to your foot peg questions (well hopefully one)
Will the 83/84 foot peg fit onto the 87/88 bike (and presumably 85/86 mono's as well).
Answer - not really, but if you like tinkering I'm sure you could make them fit.
The peg support on the frame is basically a piece of flat bar welded onto the tube end. The flat bar is cut off at an angle to support the peg across its full width. The photo below shows an 84 peg (left) next to an 87 peg, look at the area that rests on the flat bar support (inside, top of the peg) and you can see the different angles. You can see the bolt angle is the same and the top of the peg angle is the same, the 87 peg is a two piece construction with the peg top welded on a 'U' section piece of steel while the 84 peg is a one piece construction, bent into shape.

Additionally the bolt spacing is out by a couple of mm, but this would be an easy mod to get them to fit in position. Once bolted in place the peg would no longer be supported across its full width.
So here's the tinkering part, I'm sure with a grinder and welder you could make them fit perfectly.
Hope this helps.
