    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Today I installed a FMF Muffler on my 82 250 XC. I used the FMF Universal Kit and it took about an Hour start to finish. They make a 1 1/8" and 1 1/4" size Your going to want the larger one for 250's and 430's and 500's. The Tube leading into the Muffler is the same size as the Tailpipe on the Stock 250 Exhaust. I had a Scrap Tube that would slip over both of them so I Tig Welded it to the Muffler and put a couple of Tangs on it for the Stock Springs. A section of High Heat Hose like all the New Bikes have would do the same thing. The Slideing Mount the Kit comes with needed a new Hole Drilled to line up with the Stock Aluminum Frame Mount. Its got a USFS Spark Arestor I havn't started it yet but I doub't it will be much louder than stock.
 
Post up some pic's so we can see what it looks like. I have an 81 430 XC that will be needing a new tailpipe. This may sway me....
 
I would LOVE to see your pipe set-up! I have a FMF Q-Stealth on my RM250 and it is VERY quiet....great for sneaking around in the woods. I'd absolutely love to put one on my 82 WR 430.
 
I found that the adapter that comes with the Universal Tubine Core II along with the end of the stock tailpipe just needed a little cleanup and they would slide very tightly together. On the pipe, there was a slight ridge on the inside diameter that I smoothed down with a dremel. The adapter per my digital calipers measured about 1.255". I used a small grinder to skim .005 off of the adapter to take the diameter down to about 1.25" and the result was a nice very tight strong fit.
