  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

FMF Q4 Hex S/A on TXC 310 Without Re-map

A Class
I want to install a FMF Q4 S/A on my 2014 TXC 310R and was wondering if I could run with it without re-mapping for now? I'm going to try and race enduro this weekend and need a USFS approved stamp on the muffler and the stock one doesn't have it (even though I installed a Husky spark arrester). I've heard good things about the FMF but, most of what I've read includes re-map to go along with the pipe. I'm sure it want hurt the bike but, will it run ok with the stock ECU?
Any feedback will be appreciated.
Rex

If you have a TXC not a TE you should be fine without changing anything but the open exhaust flash would be beneficial if you don't already have it loaded.

Where did you get the FMF Q4 hex?

I just called them and they don't have any in at this time.
They had the best price. I saw one sit that had it for about $315, I don't remember the site, if you can't wait. Direct from FMF is $379 I think. It may be worth waiting for. My problem is solved, the tech people are going to let me ride with the Husky spark arrester. I just don't have a USFS stamp but technically I'm legal.
Good luck, Rex

Gang, I just called and the part number they have is for a 2012 TXC, however I placed an order over the phone for the 13 TXC for $296.11. They order from Parts Unlimited which received a a shipment last week. I will let you know how it goes.

I ordered a FMF Q4 slip on last week. supposed to be in this coming Tuesday. I found it on Parts 411 and spoke to a gentleman named Brandon. Their number is 877 484-4860. Website is parts411.com Hopefully the Header will be available soon. I just picked up a 14 TXC 310 with a full PC exhaust and it's nice compared to my other 13 TXC 310 with stock exhaust. When my FMF slip on comes in, I will let you know how it works if you like.

I had one, It made mine too twitchy, I took it off. It ran ok though.
What do you mean by "twitchy", like on-off throttle response? Because my '14 TXC 310 was like that with the 12 tooth front sprocket and it made it harder for me to ride in the tight stuff. I installed a Rekluse and geared it back up and it helped a lot.

Just FYI the USFS stamp or label is meaningless to the USFS (or BLM)...that is for consumers. If your event is on USFS (or BLM) land, any federal enforcement officer knows how to access specifications of pipes and which do and dont have stamps. In practice, they will either reference their publication, or simply rid the bike.

I am by no means informing you that your current exhaust is superior, but don't upgrade for that reason alone.
