  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

do you need to install the metal and rubber washers from old pipe to new fmf pipe? the screw does not reach with it.

Which bike? which pipe model? You want some sort of vibration insulator, I dont recall this being an issue when we installed the FMF on our 310R....

There are a couple guys here that should have firsthand knowledge on that one.... Rear Wheelin and Tinken come to mind....I just run the TXC Akra on mine.

also the original clamp that connected the old pipe to the header is to big? does the new pipe need a clamp to connect to header pipe?

You don't need the clamp, just a bead of high temp silicone then slip on the silencer and tighten the mounting bolts.

As for the hardware you just need the bushing that goes in the lower mounting location and the bolts that came with the pipe.

just installed the pipe and went for a test drive. i never had flameouts before and now i know what everyone is talking about. while i was making a slow turn bike just cut out and i dropped the bike in the street. 1st time that happened, never happened before with stock pipe. i noticed the power delivery is alot smoother with fmf, but for some reason it felt like it hit harder with stock pipe. my bike would do 3rd gear power wheelies with stock pipe and now it doesnt. I dont have a jd tuner or PCV yet so maybe thats why it doesnt feel as hard hitting. any opinions appreciated..

Just curious how others installed their powercore pipe. I put back the 2 stock spacers and rubber washersfor the fmf. Are they both necessary?

I'm not sure, but is it tight yet? If that squishes down, that would be ideal for vibration isolation.

Going from stock to fmf exhaust is gonna make it run real lean. Do you have the power up plug? Should say "race map II" on the display if you do. Next will be a tuner (PCV or JD) or ECU update to map #3. The update is probably the cheapest and maybe best, but does not work on all ecu's. Did not work on mine :(

Tried the update with tinken. Did not flash for my bike. Im shopping for a PCV since most on this forum say its the best option. Once I have the PCV i will load the ballistic missile map that tinken uploaded here to the forum. I am hoping that cures my issues.

I installed the FMF on my 2012 TE449 last week. I didn't reuse the spacers from the stock muffler. Also, I didn't have a rubber grommet on my stock setup.
