  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Floppy Clutch On 2014 Te310r

Mavix

Husqvarna
B Class
Clutch is floppy when engine heats up, going to replace the fluid, seems worse with elevation as well. Any recommendations on clutch fluid? Motul 660?

Is it possible that the slave has a leak? There is some fluid sprayed onto the engine near the slave but I would think it would go into the engine. We opened the master and there was fluid in it, maybe a little low but I don't know how to tell.

"floppy" is a weird description; but I'd guess you have air somewhere in the hydraulic system. Try carefully bleeding it.

good luck.

You could be boiling the fluid but it is harder to do on a clutch than a brake which has more heat to deal with.

Changing and bleeding is a good idea. Bet it fixes it.

Agree; probably air in the system. Do a bleed. If it continues look at doing a master rebuild kit.

I had my clutch go out a few times on high elevation runs. Comes back in a minute if I shut off. Probably the seals on the piston in the slave. I believe there are 2. First time this occurred I noticed small white particles in the clutch fluid. I had a shop flush the line with new fluid. Happened again the following year on a mountain run and subsequently a 3rd time. Check banjos for any possible weeping of fluid. Otherwise get replacement seals and pull slave and replace seals. I did suspect as some have mentioned boiling/heat and my cluch line was very close to the header so considered that as a cause. I had asked Ty when I brought my bike in for an engine rebuild and his reaction was probably the seals as the failure.

...my cluch line was very close to the header so considered that as a cause
good point.

I loosely wrapped my clutch line (and electrical lines ziptyed to it) in heat-reflecting tape for about 6".
