• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Does not look bad at all. The more I look the more I like.

- Nice aluminum skid plate
- Nice rack
- Passenger pegs and real dirt footpegs
- Real suspension (not like the G650)
- Huge single rad
- looks well sorted / designed
- I like it

Hmm, not bad.

Not a fan of the low front fender and twin mufflers- the fender could easily be changed though. Doesn't look like it should be too heavy, but I'm curious on what it will actually weigh..............
The engine looks interesting....

I think this is the "adventure" model and think there will be a TE version with tall fenders too.

Right side drive and cable operated clutch? Doesn't look like there is a cradle under the engine. Looks like it would make a decent commuter/light adventure bike.

I hope that the front fender could be made to work on my SM630.

170kg dry or 374lbs..

Criminy...

Only 9lbs less than my SV650...:(

I guess I can save some money by just mounting up my TKC80's, fab'ing up a skid plate and painting it red...

I think the Moab looks more dirt-worthy...

For a street bike with ADV (SUV) pretenses (which is what the whole GS line at BMW is) it looks pretty good. Will it have the luggage options, etc that the ADV crowd requires? Fuel range? I wouldnt take it anyplace tougher than a gravel road, but it has possibilities.

dudes over at ADV take those G650's on stuff that is way off road. This looks far more capable. I think it will be a great bike for that market. If they upgraded the TE511 with a wider trans and bigger tank then the off road DS segment would be filled nicely and this bike would be the step more towards the road-n-gravel crowd.

Yes, and I used to blow by them on my TE610 in those situations... Some people are just gluttons for punishment. Ive ridden a Dakar down single track....glad I didnt drop it :)

I stand by my experienced assessment of where these things belong :oldman:

Well, my SV doesn't belong a lot of the places I've ridden it, but I've had more fun on that thing when off-road than I've ever had while on pavement. It just makes me giggle...and isn't that the whole point of riding?

Thats funny Adam found these same pics this morning and was getting ready to post them, neat bike.
