  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

VERY NICE MACHINE. whats the best mod to keep the hp climbing instead of flattening out. i was a little dissapointed . i need that power to keep pulling

richen the carb. Best move is to replace with a Lectron 36mm. I can't believe you are disapointed. Richen the main if you are wide open and it goes flat. If it goes flat at mid range , richen the needle. If running the stock Mikuni TMXx then also make sure the float level is about 8mm. It usually comes set too high causing a rich condition when hitting bumps , poor fuel economy because it is pumping gas out the overflow.

I hope you sort out the carb issues.... Because these bikes are great.... I'm certainly really happy with mine.... You can not get a better handing bike then these bikes IMO..... Keep us posted on how you feel after you sort out the carb issues....

Put a pipe on it.

The FMF gave me more power everywhere, especially on the bottom. At least it felt that way.

Even stock these things cant be accused of going flat on top !! jetting must be way off or powervalve not opening properly

Is it a factory 144 or a modded item ?

the dealer installed the factory 144. the mechanic said he rejetted. runs really clean. just flattens out at the top. i am a 170 lb vet expert and rode the shit out of it. i felt like a kid. had a real big tumble however. a small tripple out of a corner that i was doing on my 250f. i was an inch short on the husky. im to old for moto i guess! i am going to put either a 51 or 52 sprocket on her for trail riding this weekend. which one ?? lookin forward to riding with you cam.

Have you checked the power valve linkage setting. This may cause the power to flatten out up top if it is not adjusted right.
