  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Well I finally got it This is the best I can get the 2011 Husky 300 to Handle .I am finally happy, well worth all the time and money
Best part I added was the last part a set of Ohlins TTX Front Forks
I now have Ohlins front and rear and the bike really works
Must thank the following people who really helped get the 300 working
Ty Davis from Zip Ty racing He added CR electronic and got a bigger rear brake to fit plus all the
other small thing we all do to set up a bike.
David From Fast Bike Industries in North Carolina.David use to be a engineer at Ohlins He now has a shop of his own down the street from Ohlins.David made a custom TTX rear shock and custom front
TTX forks Both parts Ohlins does not list for a Husty 300.Well David makes them and many other shocks to fit Husky that the factory does not have a part # for The bike now handles so good.
The fork action is so smooth It is just imposable to discripe how well the bike now feels.
I have done all I can do on a 165 so it is time to give this 300 a try
Really looking foward to racing the 300 First National is in a month so will have more time to ride the 300.The 300 might be old school but now it handles like a dream.
If any one wants a list of everything I have done to this bike let me know and I will post a complet list.

No But I wish. Even with all the money I have spent on this bike I have less into it then a new KTM,Beta,Gas Gas,Husaberg,Yamaha ect
Then the thought of how much it would cost to change brands and the cost of spares to keep it going. Plus the fact I really like the Husky was the driving force behind my plan to give it a little more to make it work.Now I just need to work on me so I can handle the beast.The 165 is still way lighter
but I have taken it to its limit. Now it is time for something new until Husky comes out with a new age 2 stroke
I will race King of the moto next month on the 165 just becuse of the weight

Now it as close to a dream bike and still be a Husky Forks list for 2900 shock list for 1200 BUT make a call and work a deal I am sure you can get a better deal.When you figure what it cost to set up the stock suspention plus shipping both way you spent like a 1,000 dollars and it is still a stock set up
So going the complet Ohlien set up really is not that bad.What does a new bike cost plus all the extra to set it up Beleive me I was sick when I sent the check but now after riding it I am ok

I'm interested in what you've done, except I'd like to do it for my 2012 TE310. I was looking into the Ohlins TTX but couldn't find a good source. Sounds like David in NC might be a good place to start. Thanks for posting this and any contact info you can provide would be appreciated.

I had the pair of forks Ajax bought ear marked at Fast Bike Industries for some time and was trying to get the KYB sss forks on my TXC to be all they could be and when it got down to trying to tune them the past 3 weeks now that I'm riding again, the KYB's just wont feel like my G450X with Ohlins RFX forks it's just night and day difference particularly in the chop and comfort level while riding more so then flat out suspension performance so to say. I told Ajax David could make "whatever" and had made custom Ohlins TTX shocks for the husky's. Ajax got the last RFX fork kit for a Husky in the nation and evidently in Sweden as well, but not to fear,........for an additional few hundred bucks you can take 2013 spec RFX Ohlins made for Yamaha YZF450 and swap out the axle/fork feet to make your own Husqvarna Ohlins RFX fork kit,....I am in the middle of doing this right now with David. While Ajax got the better deal and I was kicking myself in the butt for passing on them (timing is everything), the only light at the end of the tunnel is a laundry list of upgrades Ohlins made on the 2013 RFX fork although it's hard to imagine improving on the 2011 spec fork but they say they did! I'll have my own test ride report in 10-14 days as I already have the TTX rear shock and it's just amazing, I've dialed maybe one click on both rebound and compression and it's just ready to rock n roll!!!

Exactly, I haven't exhausted all tuning tricks on the dual chamber KYB's, I know that it will take $12-1400 to try and reduce the stiction factor as much as possible and still have KYB forks that are only worth a few hundred bucks and not as smooth as Ohlins RFX's. Buy the Ohlins and they'll be worth half the price used later, they will be superior and we're set up to service and tune the Ohlins better then anything else so it's a no brainer right? lol
 
THANK YOU BOBBY I have had a smile on all day.Like you said the first thing you notice is how smooth the forks work on the small shop.
Today on my first ride I went right down a rocky wash same one I always use.After a few feet I said to my self did some one move all the rocks because I can not feel them any more.You do not feel any thing until you get up to speed and the woops get big then you can tell you are on a bike.Other wise
feels smooth as silk.
Suspention is key to a great bike.I tried to make the stock stuff work and wish I had done this years ago.Kept waiting for the new red 48mm Zokes but was finally told they are not comming to the USA, So I called David. A call I should have made a year ago, anyway 4 day later a custom set of TTX set up for how I ride are delivered to me .I installed them and did not adjust a thing
I beleive if someone who is willing to spend the money puts this set up on and was offered a money back garentee would never ask for the money back

David is a very humble Canuck living in the NC, transplanted from CA where he use to manage a few AMA Superbike teams back in the day. When someone want's a custom Ohlins shock made,.....they call David! He's made many one off Ohlins shocks for all sorts of applications from proto-type American built GP bikes to show bikes and stuff for everyday schmucks like us, he'll be straight up and do what he says can do.
 
And John, glad you love them and agree they just work awesome, night and day. I guess I didn't over pitch them huh? hehe

Order it for a 2006 up WR 250 same as a 2011 at least it is on both my 2006 and 2011 When you call FMF ask for Mike He should help you john
 
This is very interesting, you'll keep us tuned in to results of the Ohlin's forks? Invest instead of buying a new smoker might be an idea. :popcorn:. One other thing WR's really are the ticket, both of mine handle like a dream but lack the super-spension this would bring.

I would think so But have no proff of it To me buying the complet fork seemed like a better fit.you have a complet fork which was all designed to work as a complet unit.I am told the incerts work great but I wanted to get the complet part

Yes they are coated both inside and out Also low friction seals
