  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Finally got 'em installed.

Finally got around to installing the 12-hole injector and TXC ECU in my TE310. Removing the original screws was a bit of a pain. I replaced them with some metric cap screws from Lowes. My iBeat software and cable came from SEMCO, and a friend gave me an old PC with XP installed on it. I'm going to keep it on a rolling cart in the garage with the workshop manual and iBeat installed on it and use it for my maintenance computer.

No. I have not ridden it yet. I bought the bike new in October, and it has been too cold to ride. It is winter and I live in Alaska. Right now the bike is apart in the garage while I work on other stuff. As soon as my wife gets back from work I'm going to install my radiator braces and install the new aluminum fuel elbow from ZipTy. I'm going to hang on to the old ECU and injector. Sorry.

I think you'll be satisfied with the results

I hope so. From what I have read, the TXC ECU and injector are the answer to the TE310's problems. I'm using the winter down time to install all the goodies. I put heavier Race Tech springs in the forks and on the shock, and have a skid plate and hand guards from Enduro Engineering to go on. Can't wait until it is warm enough to ride. I haven't had a bike since the one in my profile pic. That was back in the '80's. I think all I need to do yet is swap out the DOT Karoo's for some real off-road tires. I was thinking Motoz, but am leaning towards Maxxis Maxxcross SI's now. I figure an 80 in the front and a 110 in the back are the way to go. Any advice?

I found the throttle response to be wicked with the 12 port/ECU... I'm running Maxxis Desert IT's of the same size 80/110 and love em', MAJOR improvement over the stockers..

Pirelli Scorpions that come stock on the TXC are VERY good off road and wear extremely well. (medium/soft scorpion x-tra). Price is good too.
