  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

FE/FC FE 350 oil change frequency

nep2012

Husqvarna
A Class
I have a 2015 fe 350 which I use the recommended Bel Ray 10w-50. I have 800 miles on bike and have been changing my oil after every 2 rides which is 200-240 miles or approximately 6 hours. Been changing both oil and filter every change. Riding consists of 80 miles dirt and 20 miles paved with speeds on paved like 50-55 for a couple miles. Is my oil change frequency excessive or is it a good thing?

Did you read the manual? You're supposed to change the oil after the first hour, then every 15hrs according to the manual. Some change more often but then again they run Rotella and change the filter every other oil change. I just run the viscosity and type of oil the manual recommends and change the filter with every oil change. I've been doing this since 2004 with KTM 4S and have never had a single problem with the bikes. They've all been as reliable as a claw hammer.

Yeh I read the manual and I also read change oil after every race. Yeh I changed the oil after first hour and after 3 hours. I also read the manual for my old 2012 Te310 which recommended changing oil after like 1500 miles. Thanks for the advice but I feel better changing my oil more frequently than the manual dictates.
