• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

For the 250cc

1. '81 250cr
I think this was a little cr rocket.

2. '78 250or
The mix of 1, 2, 3 gears being wide ratio and 4, 5, 6 being close ratio. This transmission had no bog in the 4, 5, 6 gears if you weren't in the WOT.

For the bigger bores,

3. '79 390cr
This bike is a earth churning, roost ripping middle bore. It's not for the new rider. More than enough power.

4. '86 400 wrx. Smooth power very controllable.

Once I started riding the 390cr the 250's just sat.

What's your favorite left kickers?

I agree on the 430, if you told me I could keep only one of my Husky's it would be my '82 430WR that I have set up with 11" travel between the stock WR and an XC/CR, it can do anything.

Let's see here: I've owned four WR400LC's, one WRX 400, an 1982 250WR and 82 430 XC, and an 1983 250WR and 430WR (the only HUS I currently own)....Liked them all, but my 2 favorites were the 83 Milk trucks -- hands down.

it really is hard to pick one...if you have one of the 400s that doesnt vibrate thats a real gem. good smooth power for any situation, good revs and good torque. the itc setup is my favorite dual shock, and the 87-88 is my favorite overall chassis. those last single shocks are very trustworthy once set up. and that seat! they had an excellent gas tank design as well.

I want one of those last year of the Swedish engine four strokes really bad.

When I ordered my '99 TE610e I thought it was the last Swede engine. It was a Italian make over I guess.

I regret selling my first go around with the husqvarna's too. I had enough in bikes and parts to support two future generations of the family.

The bikes I have ended up with would'nt have been my first choice. Its just the ones that came available to me in the area I was willing to drive and get. They each have their own uniqueness and the ability to put a grin own my face.
But if you were to ask what bike is on my next to build bike list it would be a 83 wr 250 but I would not pass up a 430 either...
pass on.

i really loved al lmy left kickers but my least favorite was my 80 250 OR the forks flexed like crazy it also had a Asch pipe that put a mid range hit in it crazier than the fork flex:eek:

Hard to choose just one
My 74 400cr was my favorite vintage racer
My 84xc 500 super fun
All time wish I still had 82 430CR

1982 WR430 Dick Burleson replica. any liquid WR400 twin or single shock ****************************************

I am currently building what was my desired bike back in the day when I had my 78 390 ACC; a 78 390WR with the same 10" front and rear suspension that was on my ACC. I have yet to ride either of the single shockers yet but I think I will adore the 85 400WRX over the 86 400WR at least until the WRX sells and I can setup the 86 400 however I want at that point.
