• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Fat Bar Clamps ?

Where do I find fat bar clamps?

I'd like to swap out these thin stock bars for some nice Evos or equal. I see the pics people have posted for the Motosportz clamps, but can't find any info for ordering them.....neither here or on Motosportz website, or anywhere else.

Sent email to Motosportz many days ago without receiving a Reply. Maybe he's on vacation....I donno.

Also, where is the Motosportz skid plate thread hiding? Either I'm blind, dreamed it, or has vanished from CafeHusky. Soon.....I may even forget my way home.

Hey HF, i tried the regular "universal" adapters but no bueno. I emailed Kelly and he sent me his fat bar riser/adapter kit and it is perfect. If you click on the Forums tab, scroll down to vendors and click on motorsportz's page. You'll find the skid plate thread etc there. He was very responsive, so maybe he's out playing somewhere.

Here are a couple of pics of the Motosportz risers and bar package. The bars look similar to the stocks but have less sweep back, which was better for my old wrists

I've got the fat bar clamps from Motosportz, too. Got black ones...they're gorgeous! The skidplate was even prettier. Now all I need is some fat bars :D

Hi.
Are all the cables long enough for the risers? Or did you need to re-route them or change them?

Thanks!

Plenty of room for 1/2" risers and taller bars. It sure makes the bike more comfortable for standing up and sitting down.

I returned the Motosportz/TrailTech fat bars as they wouldn't accommodate the inserts for Acerbis hand guards, ended up with Easton fat bars which turned out a little cheaper anyway. And the red risers/clamps do look good!

Thanks for sharing this additional info & pics.....very helpful. I think buy a black pair in the taller riser. These look very high quality. I've sent another email to Motosportz. He seems to be inactive during the Holiday. I hope to hear from him later this week.

Are those heated grips Bikemaster? Do they have good heat output on aluminum bars? I am changing the bars on mine and may as well put the grips on while I'm at it.

What bend did you get? I'm thinking of going to something like the CR High Bend, if Easton offers it, but don't want to outrun the stock cables. Did you go 1/2" higher on the mounts, or what? Also, did you notice if the mount tops are milled "flat"? Stock has high on one side and low on the other, and prevent fitting HDB hand guards, which I covet for this bike.

Stock bars are 7/8" diameter at the mounts (traditional....standard type steel bars). You didn't specify what measurements you wanted. Sold my stock bars to someone else, so don't have them anymore to measure. But, I think they were about 31 - 32 inches long (fairly typical....except without a crossbar).

Fatbars....which I much prefer....have a 1 1/8" diameter at the center mount. However, they still have the same size on the ends (for grips). They taper down from center to edge.

Hope the info helps.
