• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Fastway cleats

I have Fastway pegs that need new cleats. The cleats are the push in type and are not threaded. Has anyone used the threaded cleats in the push in pegs? Is it possible? I don't want to spend $30 on the replacement cleats if they won't work. I sent ProMoto an e-mail asking the same question but thought I'd seek a non-biased view from CafeHusky.
Thanks

Well your in luck, i worked at Fastway for many years and did some of the design on those pegs. The press in F4 type pegs can not be converted to screw in. the whole size is different and threading them would be really hard. Your only option is to send the pegs to PMB and have them extract and press in new cleats. Things may have changed but i think this is correct.

My F3 screw in cleats are so warped and crushed that I cant remove them. I wish I had known they had press-in pegs when I bought these.

vise grips. The screw in ones are far better IMHO just need to do some maintenance once in a while.

+1 on the Vise Grips. It is not as tough as you might think. I had some screws that the heads were quite worn and crushed and they came out easy with the Vise Grips.

I pulled the really worn cleats out with some vise grips. I thought I'd try some threaded studs I bought at Ace Hardware which are a little bigger and a matching tap. Just my luck.....I broke the tap off in one of the cleat holes. After a rainy afternoon ruining numerous drill bits with my hammer drill I got most of the broken tap out. I hate to send the pegs off and be peglesss incase an oportunity to ride comes up.

I've tried vice grips. There's still 4 or 5 that are so mangled I cant even get a bite on them.

Lesson learned.... replace them before they are crushed too badly.
