Glenn Kearney and FAR Husqvarna Score A Podium Finish At GNCC OpenerFred Andrews Racing puts two Husqvarnas in the top-ten overall at the Westgate River Ranch GNCC
Corona, CA - March 14, 2012 - The Fred Andrews Racing (FAR) Husqvarna team made a statement at round one of the 2012 Grand National Cross Country series in River Ranch, Florida by nabbing a podium finish and placing two Huskys in the overall top-ten. Both Jason Thomas and guest rider Glenn Kearney traded the lead in the early laps of the season opener, and when all was said and done the XC2 riders would finish third and fourth in class.
Aboard matching TC250 machines, the FAR duo of Thomas and Kearney pushed hard from the start. "We actually both had horrible starts," Kearney explained. "Jason went down in the first turn, and I couldn't get the bike lit right away. We basically went from dead last to top-two in only three laps."
"After the first-turn crash I really turned it up." Thomas recalled. "I wanted to get up front, which I did, but with a lap to go I just hit a wall. Hopefully we can come back this weekend and get back up front."
After getting stuck in the mud with two laps to go, Kearney redeemed himself and passed Thomas on the final lap to claim the final podium position, and seventh overall on the day. Thomas would hold on to fourth and finish ninth overall, nearly two minutes ahead of the next XC2 rider.
The FAR Husqvarna team will return to racing this weekend in Washington, GA for round two of the GNCC series.
