  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Exhaust update TXC 250

Wolf

Husqvarna
AA Class
I have been trying different exhaust systems on my little 11 TXC 250 to get a little better exhaust flow and snap, and quieting it down as well. The stock system without the screen insert did surprisingly well, but was way to loud for me (I was totally satisfied with the power). I barely passed the enduro sound tests with it (mainly because I knew the testers). With the screen inserted the sound was ok (95db at the last test), but it really tamed the bike down...felt like my 09 TXC 250. Additionally the stock silencer is freakishly heavy.
So I bought a Leo Vince X3 and used it with the stock header (it came with 2 different inserts, I ran it wide open). Even wide open the bike was awesomely quiet, but it ran just like it did with the stocker with insert - choked down and sluggish.
I tried the FMF Q slip on...worked ok but surprisingly loud and heavy...not worth the change to me.
So...I picked up a pwerbomb header from a CH inmate last week. Since I don't have the FMF silencer anymore, I installed that with the Leo Vince silencer. The fit is a little tight (the header is a couple mm too long and I will probably cut it down), but man, I think I finally have the result I was looking for. The bike is quiet yet responsive, Power is excellent, sound tests will be a non issue...and...I saved quite a bit of weight over the stock system.
