• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Exhaust options for 2013 txc250

Husqvarna
I have a 2013 txc250 and I am having a hard time finding aftermarket exhaust systems or slip ons for a reasonable price. Procircut has a system but its about $800 and that is ridiculous. I talked to my dealer and they said since mine is the "red head" engine 2010-2012 exhaust will not work. Is the dealer wrong? Will 2010-2012 exhaust fit? I would like to spend under $500.

I couldn't understand why the muffler was so huge and felt that the bike revved too slow and didn't pull very hard, then I read where the 250 and 310 use the same muffler. So before I dropped 800 bucks on an aftermarket exhaust, I decided to try and shorten my stock muffler. I drilled out all of the rivets on both ends and took it apart. Cut 3" off of everything, removed those pesky screens since I only ride MX, and put it all back together. The difference was noticeable as soon as I started it. The engine revs so much quicker, and pulls incredibly harder. The exhaust noise is only slightly louder at wide open throttle, but is still a lot quieter than stock Kawasaki exhausts. And it was free****************************************

I have an 11 black head (250) and a 13 red head (310). The fmf 4.1 from the 11 fits on the 13 no problem.

I have looked at the stock Txc 310 silencer and have been thinking about cutting mine. Has anyone cut the 310 one yet?

Why is that?

I believe that because I felt the low end torque wasn't optimal with the baffle removed on my bike. (cut and paste below that explains why better than me)

I have no hard data to back this up and I could be wrong but I did speak with a reputable dealer here that believes the same.

What would be interesting is measuring the internal diameter of a few aftermarket slip-ons and compare with stock. Then compare notes on performance. Have you got access to a few slip-ons, telescopic gauges and a set of verniers??

BACKPRESSURE = TORQUE?
An old hot-rodder's tall tale: Engines need some backpressure to work properly and make torque. That is not true. What engines need is low backpressure, but high exhaust stream velocity. A fast-moving but free-flowing gas column in the exhaust helps create a rarefaction or a negative pressure wave behind the exhaust valve as it opens. This vacuum helps scavenge the cylinder of exhaust gas faster and more thoroughly with less pumping losses. An exhaust pipe that is too big in diameter has low backpressure but lower velocity. The low velocity reduces the effectiveness of this scavenging effect, which has the greatest impact on low-end torque.

I'm old and don't want a lot more noise from my bikes really .. Owning 2 010 TC250s, I might can try some cutting maybe ... And there is a pretty good pipe makers here close...

Why do you need to cut your pipes?
TC pipes are good straight-through design AND not too large like the TE pipe with baffle removed.
Send them to me and I'll send you a TE pipe to butcher.

lol ... maybe that is why I buy MX racer model bikes ... I'll just forget this ...I do own the only 4 perfect Huskies, world wide apparently ...

I bought bikes with lights just to keep the fuzz happy. My TE is now a TxC310 anyway. Braap, it's perfect too... Must be 5 worldwide.

5 maybe .. I'm actually fudging some slightly on the TCs due to their 5 speed transmissions ... I need at least 1 6speed TXC tranny for a TC :) ... I moved to a place where the fuzz are not quite so important and now carry a flashlight for after-sundown rides instead....

So whats so great about these $800 pipes if there is nothing in them? What's the tuning secret for building a 4t pipe that is not so loud?

It's not what's inside, it's what's on the outside that counts. The sticker. :)
