  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc excessive throttle play solutions

Husqvarna
AA Class
On my 04 cr125 its had excessive play at the throttle since ive owned it, stock carb, lectron, and now, keihn no differenxe,

Its maxed out at the adjustment on the bars, any other ways to take the slack out? I hate it as switching from bikes without slack to mine results in relearning throttle control every time basically.

Do i need a new cable is it just worn out?

Check your throttle tube you may have two positions for the cable to sit in put it on the furthest one and see if that makes a difference.

Failing that if your cables free moving you can get a cable repair kit that has nipples with it simply cut your existing one off and thread a new one further down to take out the slack.
Not happy doing that yes get a new cable .

pretty much all carbs have an adjustment aat the top of the carb as well...you may also have the wrong cable?

I'll take a look at the carb tomorrow see what i come up with, also will check out the throttle tube, thanks for both tips. Never had a sloppy throttle before!

When I put the Lectron on my WR250 I had to take all the adjustment at the carb and at the cable to get the slack out (stock cable). I ordered a custom Motion Pro cable from Kevin at Lectron that got the adjustment back to centered.

a very small amount is key for throttle control but too much is very very annoying....some just dont care tho. some motion pro throttle have an adjuster mid-cable.

let me start by saying my throttle worked fine stock
when i replaced the Mic on my 99 the Lectron came with a cable
it was for who knows what, definitely not my bike
i took the stock cable to task due to a ride the next day
i had to take all the slack out of the cable to make the Lectron slide go all the way down
you need to look at your cable if you had slack with all the carbs

For my 250sx it was recommended to me to buy a new cable for lectron as well, I think it is just a motion pro +4 cable.

If you really want to improve throttle slop and response i recommend the G2 2-stroke quick turn throttle. You can change cams from a wide selection if you dont want it to be a quicker turn, they make stock cams and even cams that take more rotation to turn full throttle. One of my more favorite upgrades ive done.
