  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Engine Seals

Hey guys, new to the forum and would like your input on engine seals. I searched for any threads regarding seals but did not see anything. If there is one please tell me.

I have a 79 Husky 125 that I am rebuilding the engine. I have aquired new bearings and am now looking to get new seals. The ones that were in the engine are Corteco's with the following information on the side:

CORTECO I1 CFW BAUD1SL 20-35-7/6
CORTECO B4 CFW BAB2SL 25-35-6/65
CORTECO I2 CFW BAU3SL 25-47-7

They are rubber coated double lip seals and I would probably want to go back with the same thing. However, these numbers appear to be outdated and I am having trouble finding a cross reference number. The place I bought the bearings from can get seals but they aren't sure about these numbers because of the slashes (ex: 20-35-7/6). Any new seals seem to be just a 7 or a 6. The parts book only gives the size of the seal without a slash so I am not sure either. :excuseme:

Now for the questions. Does using a 7 or 6 instead of a 7/6 make any difference as long as the width does not make the seal extend beyond the flange? Do you know of a replacement? Can you recommend a brand and give seal numbers?

Thanks.

seals

The numbers like 25-47-7 is the size in Metric mm which is handy for reference. 25 is the shaft diameter, 47 is the outside diameter and 7 is seal width. Alot of times the width will be a combo of two numbers 6/7 is for a variance. Hope this helps!

fleet nailed it.

call uptite for sourcing hard to find stuff. if he aint gots he prolly knows who does.

Have you measured the thickness of the old seals?Use that size and you be fine.I just bought some of those seals for a husky project from a bearing supply house.

No, I haven't measured them yet. They are still in the flanges. It looks like I will have to do that.
