• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Rode our district's second enduro of the year yesterday, and had a blast. I managed to finish well for me, and added a few Husky Bucks (if we ever get our new fax #) with my finish, but if I can't keep from doing things like this, I'll never get ahead in the deal:

I ran the IRC trials rear for the first true tough test. I ran 7.5 to 8 lbs in them and I am completely impressed with the grip it gave me. Made creek crossings and rocky climbs (and everything else) fun. When I got home I noticed that somewhere along the line, it picked up a little extra weight. Got wood?

The guys from Halls were there, fielding a TXC250, and a WR250. I didn't catch (literally) who was riding the two Husky's, but they started on the minute behind me, and didn't stay there long. I think my poor TXC wanted to get up there and run with them, then remembered who she was giving a ride to... Those guys certainly represented the brand well, and I'm hearing in conversation more than a few KTM riders starting to admit they will be taking a look at Husky the next time around.

At 38, this is my first year of racing off road. I've done a HS and two enduro's this summer, and feel I'm getting the hang of how it all works more each time. And I love it. My 5 friends and I are all riding C class, this being our first season, and each race has been better than the last. I took first, and was very happy to find that I only scored a 40. Better than the 87 from the first race, to be sure. I think riding with faster guys on my minute helped a lot.

I still have 3 races left, but I am optomistic and looking forward to getting better and giving those B guys a run next year. And my TXC has been very good to me.
