• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Enduro Bikes?

What do you guys recommend in the way of Enduro bikes. Like the BMW F 650 GS, BMW R 1200 GS, or the KTM 990 Adventure R? What other bikes are out there like these, and which ones do you guys like the most?

look for the new Husky TE 630 as a genuine 50/50 machine. Must also put into the pot the GS 800. These bikes are really dual sports more than enduro machines.

I think that the models that you are inquiring about fall more under the category of adventure/touring.

Yeah enduro is one of those often misused terms but if what you're looking for is a bike that splits the line between being street friendly and off road capable, you would be hard pressed to find a better one than a 610/630 Husky.

Hey you can't forget about the 510.
I always thought of a 610/630 as a street bike that does off road well and a 510 as an off road that does street.
With the bike you're describing above I think you'll like the new 630 better.

That's the two I would be looking at if I were get a bike that was a little more street friendly my barely street legal '05 TE510, for commuting and longer dual sport type duty.

If (when) the day comes that I give up some of our more technical single track and add back more dual-sport dirt road, then I'll lean toward the TE630.
If give up most my single track riding and/or could get a second bike, I might lean toward the BMW F800GS w/optional luggage.

I've seen a BMW 1200 Adventurer around town, and those look really nice, but dang they're big.

Have talked with a couple local guys that load up their KTM Adventure R for long day or multi-day trips of 200 to 800+ mile trips with mix of forest service dirt roads, light duty 2-track and mtn highway. They think the 900/990 are perfect bike for that type of riding......but then one of them is the dealer too
