  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

electrical - fuses maybe?

in November I had my 2012 TE 310 off getting the suspension done....got it back and got busy at work....Winter rolled in and riding slowed down - so the bike has been sitting on the lift waiting for me to get off my lazy ass and get it ready for a Feb Baja trip.

I swapped chain/sprockets, sent the seat to Seat Concepts, wired up some accessories, etc.
Took my time.:D

Battery's been sitting on the workbench on a Tender while I tinkered... today I put the battery in and hooked up the taillight & rear turn signal connectors.

Turned on the key and got the fuel pump priming the fuel rail... 5w running light in the headlight shell, and a taillight with all LED's firing.
First thing I checked was the brake lights - nada.
No horn, no turn signals, no brake lights.
Starter engages, but since I hadn't put any gas in it yet, I didn't fire it up. No headlight, but that won't come on until the engine's running...

Don't see much in the way of fuses - the big one at the starter relay, the two 15w mini's and 20w mini on the right side that clip to the battery area of the fender.

Did I miss one? Am I missing something else? Took all the Molex connectors apart and re-snapped them together, checked them for clean connections...
Probably something simple.

Hard to believe I hadn't noticed that before - and it sure didn't seem normal, but those and the horn and brake lights do indeed need the engine running.
Put a gallon in the IMS tank and fired it up finally after a month sitting on the stand. All's well.
