  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

I tried searching....thats a rabbit hole. Its a 310r
So my started got stuck awhile ago on the trail I pulled it and continued with just kickstarting. Today I finally reinstall the starter and test it....just spins. Pull the stator cover and test and the starter spins the worm, which spins the ring gear freely. Flywheel doesn't turn. Kick starter still works.

So its not the woodruff of the starter motor. whats after the flywheel....the gear oneway bearing, another woodruff to crank and or sprag issue?
I guess i need a flywheel puller to continue....maybe I can find an okie way to do that?

Did you pull the starter motor apart? If so and you put the starter motor casing on in reverse as to how you removed it, the starter will spin backwards. If that’s not the case it’s probably the sprag clutch, sometimes just a new spring will do the job!
 
Ill check...puller is coming friday too.
Be sweet if its just something stupid, but there has to be an issue. It got stuck in the first place causing me to remove the starter.

aomc.mx is where i got it from....haven't opened it yet:)
I did swap the magnet around and the starter work as it should. unfortunately, the top bolt on the stator cover was lightly stripped and the metal gasket was a lil fubar from removal. so oil pissed out the top spraying the header. i need to get around to the hardware store for a longer bolt and see if just that cures the issue
