• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Dyno-port 430 L/C pipe

Looks real fine. I thought about ceramic coating but my welders were doubtful if it could ever be repaired/welded again after coating? My pipe is more likely to crack though as its not as good quality as yours by the look of it. I would still rubber mount it really well but I imagine you have anyway. The finish looks amazing.

Is that the high volume pipe? It looks like more volume closer to the engine but less total volume.

Did you get a matching silencer from him/dynoport?

If you notice the bracket connecting the top and lower parts of the u turn, it appears to me some of my used pipes had been modified in length in that area.

It does come out farther from the cylinder before making a turn. My fender pretty much rubs against the frame down tube, how does it look when the wheel is up at the top of the travel. The husky is a tighter fit in there than most anything else I compared it to.

It's suposed to be a high volume pipe for a '87 430wr, and I'm using a fmf turbine core II silencer. This bike was originally a 1986 430ae, and compared to the original pipe it's alot bigger. I don't have a wr pipe to compare it to. My other '87 430wr that I've only ridden a couple of times has a dynoport pipe and silencer. The dynoport silencer is alot bigger than the fmf. Will that make a differance in low end torque? The front fender on my '88 250wr use to drag on the down tube and catch on the clutch cable so I mounted the fender further foward to give it plenty of room. It also has the 87 Cr front end if that makes a difference? The new pipe gave it a lower sound. Here are some more pics and some pics of the other pipe and dynoport silencer. I built this bike to be a rider but now I'm reconsidering.

Thats work of art. You will have to buy another pipe so you have a display option and a ride option!

dyno port also does pipes for snowmobiles. they do some real nice work as we can see by these pics. I love companies like this who provide us products like this.

I think they use the same pipe for the 500. Does anyone know how these pipes run? More top? More mid? I want to get an Uptite pipe, but George says he is trying to get the tooling to make it

Yes they do use the same pipe on the 500. I do believe the pipe is designed for more low and mid range.
When I called dyno-port the secretary answed and then gave directly to Rich Daly (the owner & nice guy). He will have all your answers. I believe he used to race / ride big bore Husky's from the era. His email is rich@dynoport.com . I have talked to George numerous times over the period of several months, about two different skid plates that he thought he had and no luck. At that time alittle more than a year ago, he mentioned trying to remake some pipes but could not find his tooling. He's busy with the current stuff. I ordered it on a Thursday he made it on Monday and sent it to the ceramic guy and I had it on Saturday, 9 days. If your serios about getting a pipe I would call him and ask him your ?s, don't bother with emailing.

Anyone able to comment on the dyno port vs uptite vs stock for the 87 430 as far as power delivery
Have a 430 coming with an up tite .

Yes, looks like alot more volume down near the motor. I'd bet it's for more bottom end power. Because everyone knows the 430's need more bottom. :D

so stupid question how did you make an 86 frame into an 87
by the way that's really nice looking

prob all the same for low production numbers
it is about the time spent. rolled cone not cheap....less cones...less weld less money...more cone is opposite. Have some 83/84 A/C as well and could hit him up next

im thinking dynoport could sell a few 250, 430, 500 pipes for the 83/84 bikes.
