• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Don't sell it or buy a new one!

I recently sold my KTM 200XC to help fund my 2010 TE310. Wanted a new race bike for Enduro's and it's getting too hard to race smokers with the "man" giving me crap (NJ State Trooper). SO I decided to go for the 310.

So when I sold the 200, I took my ICO Checkmate off and the Protect Billet mount I had. The mount is a sweet billet unit that clamped over my GPR above the bar damper I had. Very beefy and well made, was 120 bucks.........

So as I am setting up my new 2010 TE310, trying to figure out how I would mount my ICO, I thought about the Protect unit I had thrown in the "spare parts" box. Like I said it was made with a solid aluminum clamp mount that encircled and attached to my damper. Nice, sits up high and was easy to read......

Here's what it looked like

So I started thinking, I bought the Highway barkbusters that have the awesome top clamp that you can mount switches to or other stuff. And there are 2 M6 holes already drilled and tapped on it for use for whatever.

SO I start thinking, if I can get the "mount" part that goes around the damper milled off flush with the bottom of the cage, I can drill 2 holes and mount to my HDB top clamp! AWESOME, use it and not have to buy something new and keep the awesome protection this mount cage offers. So luckily, where I work, one of my street riding buddies works in the fabrication department. These guys fabricate pieces for satellites and such, seriously. They have all of the cnc machines, computer controlled milling machines and drill presses. SO he comes by my office and 2 days later, he brings me this

AWESOME! Looks fantastic. He did a recess and used button heads so the ICO would sit flush. He also drilled out the 2 M6 holes in the top mount and put SS heli coils in so it would be way stronger to go with the SS button heads he used. He says that way if I do take a hit to the mount, it will be much stronger than just the tapped aluminum holes. God I love this kid........

Then he asks, well what color do you want? What? He sent it out with a batch of parts and is getting is annodized BLACK for me. Unreal. So now I took a part that I couldn't use (since I went with a sub mount Motorsportz damper) and made it into a custom, 1 off master piece! It sits nice and is perfect for viewing.

So the morale of the story, be good to your friends, and don't throw out pieces of billet stuff, they can be made to come back as a new item!

I learned a long time ago, "never burn bridges."
That's a nice piece of work. Did you at least give him a small tip?

You could say that............We go to Indy every year for MotoGP, I provide the room!

He's a good guy, anytime I need something like this, he does it in no time. He is uber skilled.

Finally got to mounting the ICO, adding the extra pickup and finishing up the install. pretty easy, marked a spot to put the sensor/pickup so the magnet would go right by, drill it to 17/64th and then tap tap to M8x1.25. Didn't even take the wheel off, just drilled the hole, tapped it, then loosened the carrier bolts and then removed the caliper carrier to tighten up the sensor in it's new home! Stocker on the bottom, new ICO sensor is the top one.

Then just run the cable up, tape it to the other 2 and then connect. Everything works perfect! Ready for the first race of the year.........

Great spot, easy to read, still have my stocker for tracking true mileage for gas and all in a solid billet mount I was able to re-use! I have the bike on a stand so the front end is fully extended and the brake line has room to spare. ZERO interference with anything!

Sits nice and low on the Highway bar clamp. Looks nice in Black too!

Mounted the Chart Holder. Used a Big Zip Ty. Left it uncut so you could see it. Works awesome. Right in the middle, easy to read, protected. And I can take it on and off with a clip and a zip! I love simple solutions that work. For a race I will use 2 Zip Ty's. Ready for Sumter Enduro end of this month! If I just could get my Dyna Ring..........;)
